Camper Pillow Instructions

Step 1: Taking two of the Summer Fun blocks, with right sides together sew around the perimeter of the block leaving a small opening large enough to turn.

Step 2: Turn the block inside out and hand stitch the opening closed.

Step 3: Cut an 8 1/2″ square from the 1/2 yard of fabric.  Cut out 4 – 2 1/2″ square from 5 of the Fat Eights. Yielding 20 squares.

Step 4: Cut 2 – 3 1/2″ x 18 1/2″ and 2 – 3 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ from the 1/2 yard.  The remainder of the yard will be used for the pillow back.

Step 5:  Sew the 2 1/2″ squares into 2 units of 4 and 2 units of 5.

Step 6:  Taking the 8 1/2″ square, sew the 4 units to the top and the bottom of it.

Step 7:  Take the 5 unit strips and sew to the right and left.

Step 8:  Sew one 3 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ strip to the top and one to the bottom.

Step 8:  Sew one 3 1/2″ x 18 1/2″ to the right and one to the left.

Step 9:  Quilt as desired.  Baste the Pom Pom trim around the edge. Create an envelope back and sew the front to the back.  (Right sides together)

Step 10:  Create buttonholes in each of the four corners of the applique square.

Step 11:  Sew buttons to the pillow top.

Step 12:  You are all done.  Now you can reverse the top of your pillow to the applique scene that best fits your mood.
