Under The Sea Project Instructions:

Cut a piece of Carta Bella’s Flamingo Fun (CBSPL83004) paper to about 6″ x 7 1/2″ and stencil Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Medium Medium through the Bubbles stencil.  Let the medium dry till tacky and dust with Pearl Perfect Pearls powder.  Set aside for the moment.

Cut a piece of Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Art Paper to the same size as Carta Bella’s Dot The World 6×6 stencil (CBPAS84033), peel the backing paper off of the Art Paper and stick the Art Paper to the back of the stencil so that the sticky side is facing you.  Apply DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic paint (Diarylide Yellow) through the stencil with a cosmetic sponge, peel the Art Paper off of the stencil and let the paint dry thoroughly.

Apply a sheet of Rebekah Meier Designs Vintage Tin Mixed Media Transfer Foil to the stenciled sticky side of the Art Paper, burnish it to get good contact and then run it through your pre-heated laminator.  Peel the release sheet off of the Transfer Foil and dust the foiled Art Paper with Perfect Blue Perfect Pearls powder to cover any adhesive that didn’t get foiled.

Ink more Mixed Media Art Paper with green ink or stain (this is Twisted Citron Distress Stain), let dry and then stamp with a dark green ink and the seaweed stamps from the Sea Life stamp set.  Fussy cut the seaweed images.

Cut some wavy strips from the stenciled and foiled Art Paper to fit across the bottom of the Flamingo Fun paper you had cut to size.  Remove the backing paper from the stamped Art Paper seaweed and adhere them to the background.  Adhere the wavy foiled strips along the bottom with Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Medium.  Cut a piece of Gone Fishing paper (CBSPL83011) to 6 1/2″ x 8″, center the Flamingo Fun paper over top and stick in place with your Memory Tape Runner XL.

Cut out a small piece of Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Foam Sheet, remove one side of the backing paper and burnish on some more of the Vintage Tin Mixed Media Transfer Foil.  Die cut some more ‘seaweed’ from the foiled Foam Sheet with the Garden Greens and Mini Holiday Greens dies.  Tint the foiled die cuts with several shades of alcohol inks to give them a hint of green ‘seaweed’ colour (Pesto, Lettuce, and Pool were used here).

Colour small pieces of Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Art Paper with several colours of inks or stains (Squeezed Lemonade, Tattered Rose and Tumbled Glass Distress stains were used here) and stamp the crab, seahorse, and fish from the Sea Life stamp set onto the coloured Art Paper with Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink.  While the ink is wet, sprinkle on some Iridescent Shimmer embossing powder and heat set to give a little shine to your ocean denizens!  I decided that I wanted my critters to be popped up off of my background so I stuck the images to white cardstock and fussy cut them (to give them some rigidity) but if you don’t want them raised off the surface of your finished piece you can skip that step.

Colour a chipboard anchor with a rust coloured ink or stain (Rusty Hinge Distress Stain was used here) and paint a couple of small chipboard starfish with Diarylide Yellow Media Fluid Acrylic paint.  Let dry and then apply foil adhesive to the coloured chipboard pieces with the Deco Foil Adhesive Pen.  Let dry till tacky and burnish the anchor with Patina Mixed Media Transfer Foil and the starfish with Old Gold Mixed Media Transfer Foil.

Add the ‘Beach Memories’ Summer Splash Element Sticker (CBSPL83014) to the upper right corner of your prepared panel.  Remove the backing paper from the foiled Foam Sheet ‘seaweed’ and apply them along the top of the ‘sand’ at the bottom of the panel.  Pop up the stamped fish, seahorse and crab images with Zots 3D Singles and adhere the chipboard anchor and starfish to the ‘sand’ along the bottom with more Mixed Media Medium.  Edge the panel with some blue glitter glue and you are done!

Here are a few close-ups of the finished project, I’ve created a home decor piece but this design could easily be translated into a scrapbook layout or a ‘wish you were here’ vacation card.

Thanks as always for stopping by today and I hope that you are having a wonderful summer where ever you may be!
