Winter Travels Scrapbook Layout

by Jessica Michaels

Hello everyone! Jessica here and I am back with another layout featuring Gina K Fancy Foils, Deco Foil Transfer Gel Blanco, and flock! This week’s theme is Winter Vacay and when I think of a winter vacation I think of all our travels via snowmobile. I live in Pennsylvania which is often snow-covered in the winter but in order to get to the trails and meet up with friends of ours we travel 1-3 hours from home so it is like a vacation event! We love the snow around here but sadly haven’t gotten much this year. I’m not going to lie though, I would not be disappointed if it was summer tomorrow! We love summer around here too!

I started this layout with a sheet of patterned paper by Echo Park, Winter collection. I then grabbed my Blanco transfer gel and stencil pal, along with a stencil by Peartree Cutfiles. I taped down my stencil using some Pixie Tape and then spread a generous amount onto my stencil pal using a smaller spatula to get it out of the pot. I then ran the stencil pal across my stencil to get a smooth application. I cannot stress enough how smoothly this stencil pal applies the product! I set that aside to dry and went to work on some flocked snowflakes.

I cut a bunch of snowflakes using Sizzix/Tim Holts Paper Snowflakes dies and my manual die cutting matching out of white latte flock. If you wanted dimensional snowflakes you could transfer the flock onto some 3D adhesive and then they would pop off the page. I just wanted mine to stay flat so I could pop up my photos instead. I also cut my photos into triangles to mimic mountains, which is where we live and snowmobile!

Once my Blanco gel was dry at this point, I ran it through my hot laminator between craft and carrier sheets with Gina K Fancy Foil on top. After that came out, I adhered the flocked snowflakes to my layout using medium and bling-size Zots and the photos with 3D foam tape roll to pop them up.

I added some light embellishments to the collection and added my title “Winter travels”. I used some letters from my stash for the travels word.

Lastly, I finished this up by adding a bit of sparkle with some sequins from the {Not} Just for Boys Kit Club and my UltraBond Liquid glue! I love this gorgeous winter layout!

I have a process video on the Thermoweb YouTube channel if you’d like to watch exactly how this came together:

Thank you for being here today and I hope I was able to inspire you to create!
