Oh SNAP Scrapbook Layout

by Jessica Michaels

We’re officially kicking off our holiday celebration and from now through the end of the year, we’ll be sharing holiday themes. To get things started… it’s Gingerbread Week and it’s Jessica here with a super yummy layout today using adhesives and flock! How absolutely adorable is this gingerbread man??

It’s all made out of fuzzy flock! My son became obsessed with the gingerbread man back in November or so last year and it has become part of our daily routine with watching the gingerbread man on YouTube and reading the story at bedtime. I totally made his day when I pulled out this hand-me-down gingerbread shirt from his cousins that fit him at that perfect time!

Oh SNAP Scrapbook Layout

I started this layout by building my gingerbread man! I found a gingerbread cutfile on Etsy by CreativeCatandCo that was perfect for my layout and uploaded it to my Cricut software. I then attached some easy-cut adhesive to white cardstock and cut the layers of the gingerbread man using the Glitter Cardstock setting, as I know that one cuts twice through heavy layers. I left the top backing piece on while I cut. I then pulled out flock in black, Tuscan gold, emerald green, and white latte and began adhering to the elements by peeling off the other backing sheet and sticking face down to the flock.

I then cut the flock down around just the pieces and ran through my manual die-cutting machine with two pieces of cardstock as shims to apply pressure to transfer the flock. Once that came out I simply peeled off the elements from the flock sheet and voila- a beautiful gingerbread in the making! I then ran the main gingerbread pieces through my die-cutting machine with an embossing folder from my stash to give it some texture to look like an actual cookie. Once that was done, I adhered all the pieces to the cookie using my UltraBond Liquid Adhesive Pen. I just love how he came out!

Next, I pulled out a sheet of Marshmallow white Bazzill paper. I pulled out my Distress ink in Rustic Wilderness by Tim Holtz and watered some ink down on my glass mat to paint it across the page. I also added splatters in the same color and then sprayed with the gorgeous Gold Glitter Dust spray to add lots of shimmer!

I matted my photos using some of the leftover white cardstock from cutting out my gingerbread man and then matted again using some papers from the Holly Jolly collection by Simple Stories. I’ve distressed those edges with my edge distresser. Then I added various elements from that collection and the Jingle All the Way collection, also by Simple Stories, sticking everything down with easy tear tape and my Memory XL Tape Runner.

I added my title letters from an old Hip Kit Club kit and a few die cuts from there as well. Then I simply finished it off by ripping some of my scraps for the top and doing some machine sewing across them and my title letters. I’ve also added an enamel dot to the gingerbread man’s bowtie!
