Bella Blvd’s Sand & Surf Collection is perfect for summer paper crafts of all kinds. Today I am sharing a pool party set that includes an easy paper piecing technique to create your own beach ball embellishments.

Supplies:

SuperStik Permanent Glue Stick
3D Foam Squares
1/4″ iCraft Adhesive™ Tape
Tape Runner
Bella Blvd Sand & Surf Collection papers and stickers
ribbon
1 3/4″ circle punch or die
scissors
hole punch
enamel dots

The beach balls make a fun, custom accent that are easy to mass-produce.

To create five beach balls at a time, punch five circles from assorted patterned papers (this would be a great way to use up paper scraps). In addition, punch five circles from cardstock to use as the base.

Stack the paper circles and draw a beach ball shape on the top one.

Use scissors to cut the circles into the five sections – take care to keep them stacked and in the same direction as the original design (trust me on this one… if you get them turned around it is almost impossible to piece them back together!).

Alice-Golden-Therm-O-Web-Bella-Blvd-3Start assembling the five beach balls by laying out the pieces so that each ball has one of each pattern. Adhere them to the cardstock base using the SuperStik glue stick – a glue stick is perfect for this as it gives you a little wiggle room to reposition the pieces as needed.

Adhere a beach ball to the invitation using 3D Foam Adhesive Squares to add dimension and make it look like it is bouncing out of the water.

Freehand cut a few water droplets and adhere them around the ball using the SuperStik glue stick.

Use additional beach balls as tags on party favors. I used a milk carton template to create these favors from patterned paper and adhered the edges with iCraft tape.

Alice-Golden-Therm-O-Web-Bella-Blvd-7After the cartons are filled with goodies, peel the liner off the iCraft to seal the top. Add a ribbon and beach ball tag and embellish with assorted stickers.
