Hello Monkey Card

I started today by getting some of the mess out of the way so it had time to dry. I sprayed my stencil with pixie spray because it’s a tad delicate and I could see it trying to move. I stuck it to a piece of green cardstock and used my palette knife and stencil pal to spread Transfer Gel Blanco through the whole thing. I did use a full 6×6 piece of cardstock so I could trim down the areas I wanted when I was finished flocking.

I heated up my laminator and ran the stenciled panel through in a craft & carrier sheet with green envy deco foil flock transfer sheet. This gives a tone-on-tone look with fantastic texture. I seriously love the feel of the flock. It’s so fun!

I stamped and colored a bunch of images from the Monkey Friends stamp set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also cut the Nature Essentials die from white cardstock. I only kept the frame and cloud border but saved the other pieces for another project later on. I inked the clouds with a little blue along one edge so it didn’t totally blend in with the frame and glued them together with UltraBond liquid glue pen.

I trimmed down the flocked piece and used a blending brush with dye inks to add some color to areas of the flocking. Then I popped the frame and clouds up with foam strips and adhered them together. I cut the new Hello Script die from black cardstock 4 times and adhered them together with liquid glue and then to my panel. My monkey friend is popped up with foam squares and the leaves were added to the top with liquid glue as well.

I felt like the card could use something so I went digging and found the sub-sentiment in the Sending Love stamp set which I just trimmed into a strip and added it with foam as well. For finishing touches, I added some glossy accents to the monkey’s nose and gold metallic pearls around the design.

The whole thing was added to a yellow card base for a splash of sunshiny feel and this card is all finished. But if you noticed, I colored more images than I used on this card, so let’s go make another one!

Hang In There Card

Make sure your laminator is heated up, grab some deco foil and a fun Laura Kelly sweet swirls toner sheet and let’s get foiling! Today, I chose rose gold but any color would be so fun!

I have two favorite things to do after foiling – either layer a stencil over top with glitz gel or ink blending…sometimes both! Today I did a little ink blending with distress oxides on the panel. I used tattered rose, dried marigold and abandoned coral. I spritzed the panel with water and flicked pearl watercolor all over it for some extra shimmer.

Then I used one of the stitched leafy borders to die-cut deco foil flock and have fuzzy leaves. I used a blending brush with dye ink to deepen and darken some of the leaves for added visual texture.

To assemble my card, I trimmed the foiled piece down to 4×5.25 inches and popped it up on a white card base. Then I added the flocked leaves to the top of the panel with my UltraBond glue pen. I snipped the monkey’s tail where it curls and wrapped it around one of the vines and popped him up with foam squares. Then I added some bananas to the vines as well as one in his hand.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on the bottom left corner of the card front and then moved on to the finishing touches.

I used a black glaze pen on the monkey’s eyes and glossy accents on his nose. Then I wrapped some jute twine around the top of the card and tied it in a bow. I added a dab of liquid glue behind the bow and held it in place with reverse tweezers while it dried. I this added texture just goes so great with everything going on in this card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and found a little inspiration to create something wonderful to share with someone.
