Hi it’s Jen Belnap from Jen Belnap Design House. I am stopping by to share a fun and fast project with you today. Do you want to personalize your towels? Is your house like mine and your kiddos fight over whose towel is whose? Or is that just me? I decided it was time to monogram some towels. And I used Thermoweb products to do it. Do you want to make one too?
First you will need these supplies:
Tear Away Machine Embroidery Stabilizer by HeatnBond
StitchnSew Washaway Water-Soluble Non-Woven Sew-in topping
Next, you need to prepare the embroidery hoop. I do this by creating what I call the Thermoweb sandwich!
You need to put your Tear Away Machine Embroidery Stabilizer on the back of your towel. Make sure it covers the area you are planning to stitch. Then place your towel on the stabilizer. The top of the sandwiche is the StitchnSew Washaway Water-Soluble Non-Woven Sew-in topping. This topping is super helpful to use with towels. The pile is so high that your stitches can get lost. This Washaway topping keeps your stitches even and laying flat. And that is your sandwich!
After you have your embroidery sandwich made, choose what design you want to stitch out. We decided to do a monogram so that my kiddos can keep their towels seperated. Stitch out your design! This is where the magic happens! Isn’t that B so cute?
After you are all done, you will see the design stitched through the tear-away stabilizer. Doesn’t it look so pretty?? Even from the back!
Next, you need to tear off the stabilizer on the back. Some of the little parts in the letters may be difficult to tear out. Tip: I found a set of tweezers really helped with this!
Last, you need to wash away the Stitchnsew Wash-away topping. Run this under water and watch it disappear! It is amazing! I then threw the towel in the dryer!
And your monogram is done! This was such a fun project. As swim season starts, I think this would be so fun to monogram all of the beach towels. This would also make a really sweet gift for a baby shower or bridal shower. There are so many things you can do!
