Game night?  How about a quick game of Tic Tac Toe.  Even better, leave this fun Halloween set on the coffee table for spooky decor and a game anytime.

Happy Halloween everyone!  Carla here, from Creatin’ in the Sticks and I’m excited to share my Halloween Tic Tac Toe game.  This one has a home on the table already, but it would make a great “candy alternative” gift too!  The skulls and crossbones game pieces are quick to make with HeatnBond EZ Print Lite iron-on adhesive and the Tic Tac Toe board is a simple mini quilt.  Here is how you can make your own Halloween Tic Tac Toe:

Halloween Tic Tac Toe Mini Quilt Instructions:

Prepare Quilt top: Begin by placing all the cut fabric pieces as shown above. All the seams are stitched 1/4″ from the raw edge. Sew the orange squares in rows with the 1″ x 4″ strips between. Next, stitch the 1″ x 12″ strips between the rows and press.

Finish the quilt

Following the package instructions, spray the StitchnSew Sew-in fleece with SpraynBond basting spray and lay it on top of the wrong side of the quilt backing fabric. After that, smooth with fingers to remove wrinkles.  Spray the back of the quilt top and lay on top of the fleece, gently smoothing out any wrinkles.

Finally, quilt as desired, trim the mini quilt, and add the binding with the preferred method.

Halloween Tic Tac Toe Game Pieces Reverse Applique Instructions:

**All patterns have been reversed for EZ printing.

Prepare the applique patterns

Print the applique pattern template pieces onto HeatnBond EZ Print Lite sheets with your inkjet printer. NO TRACING!  How awesome is that?  There are 5 game pieces of each design.  One sheet is skulls and one sheet is crossbones.  Follow the package instructions for printing and bonding to the wrong sides of the felt. Bond the skulls to one of the white felt sheets and the crossbones to one of the black felt sheets.

Cut out all applique pieces following the solid black lines, peel off the backing paper, and place applique with the adhesive side down on the opposite colored felt sheet.

Bond the Applique Pieces to the Background

Following the package instructions, work in sections to press all of the applique pieces to the background felt until all the pieces are bonded.

Stitch around appliques

Stitch with Aurifil 50 wt thread #2692 and sew a machine blanket stitch around the eyes, nose, and mouth of the skulls and the bones of the crossbones.

Finish the Game Pieces

To finish the game pieces as pictured, cut around each circle and hand stitch a blanket stitch with Aurifil Floss #5004 on each of the 10 game pieces.

PLAY!

Now you are ready to play Tic Tac Toe Halloween style.
