It’s Julia from Inflorescence Designs! I’m so joyful you are visiting today. For today’s tutorial, my eldest daughter Dahlia will be sharing how she created a fun new dress for school using HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra!
HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra is a NO SEW, lightweight iron-on web adhesive specially designed to move with your stretch fabric while maintaining a strong bond! There is no added bulk and maintains a soft hand after fusing. Great to use with knits, stretch denim, spandex, jersey fabrics, fleece and flannel.
My oldest daughter loves being crafty, and she especially loved making herself a one-of-a-kind dress to wear in the new school year. She is at an age now where I let her use my hot glue gun and she is learning how to cook. She is able to properly and safety use the iron. My younger daughter helped me create her dress. She is too young to use a hot iron but loves being part of the creative decision making.
Back to School Fun with HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra
Supplies:
- HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra Iron on Adhesive
- Garment of choice: We used Amazon Basics Dresses. They are 100% cotton and really comfortable.
- Cotton Fabric for designs
- Oliso Iron
- Wool Pressing Mat
- Scissors
Instructions:
Begin by…
Adhere the HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra to the wrong side of the fabric you are using. It needs high heat and no steam, but only for FIVE seconds!
Next…
Time to get creative! Cut out the shapes or design you want for your dress.
Important Tip: Do not make the pieces really small. They have a harder time fusing as well as they are more prone to coming off as there isn’t a lot of fusible surface area. The really little paw prints are slightly too small, and my daughter will be replacing those. The larger paw prints are doing just fine. Crafting is fun but so is learning!

Arrange your pieces and peel the paper backing off.
Finally…
Fuse the pieces in place. Use high heat WITH STEAM for 20 seconds or so.
