I Love to Read Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! Jessica here with all the fun things for Book Week! My boys absolutely love reading books so I knew I had to scrap these photos of them with their book mound on the couch! I really enjoyed making this fun layout using Foil, Flock, and Blanco Transfer Gel!

I started this layout by pulling out a sheet of textured Bazzill cardstock and added some white gesso with a brush, creating a spot for my mixed media to lay. The white gesso prepares your paper to hold wet mediums without warping the paper. I then pulled a paint splat stamp from my stash and applied watered-down distress inks to the gesso spot for my mixed media in three colors.
I also added some splatters with some Nuvo Mica Mists. I cut that paper down to 11.5×11.5 inches and then pulled out a sheet of patterned paper from my September 2021 Hip Kit to use as a border on my page. I then cut the middle out of the patterned piece to save the middle for something else. I used my OLFA folding cutting mat and craft knife tool to cut the middle portion out.
Next, I applied some Transfer Gel Blanco over a fireworks stencil using my stencil pal and pixie tape to hold the stencil in place. I love how you get such a smooth application with the stencil pal! While that was drying, I turned my laminator on to heat up and went to work on backing the cutfile.
I chose a Paige Evans cutfile which I got from the {Not} Just for Boys Kit Club and backed the letters using another paper from the Hip Kit. Then I backed the book with Teal Waters and White Latte flock. I used the UltraBond Liquid Adhesive to secure all the layers together.
Now that my Blanco Gel has dried, I sandwiched my page between a craft and carrier sheet and placed a sheet of Gold Deco Foil on the top, colored side up, silver side on my page. I ran that through my hot laminator and out came the gold goodness! I matted my photos with some of the pocket cards from the Hip Kit and then added a few embellishments and some stamping with stamps by Elle’s Studio. I adhered my solid cardstock to my page using some easy tear tape and used that to attach my photos down as well. I did use some of the 3D Foam Tape on my cutfile to pop that up off my page.
I finished this one off with a bit of doodling around my edges and photos and added some thread behind a couple adhesive brads by Simple Stories. Easy Peasy and such a fun layout!
I have a process video on the Thermoweb YouTube channel if you’d like to watch exactly how this came together.
