June is full of celebrations – showers, graduations, weddings, Father’s Day – not to mention birthdays, anniversaries and other important milestones. In fact, beautiful summer weather and longer days are reason enough to celebrate. One thing many special occasions have in common is the tradition of giving a gift or favor. I have always felt that how something is packaged is just as important as the gift itself. Today I am excited to share some projects I created using a brand new template system from the folks that developed the hugely popular Kreate-a-lope. These are perfect for creating that one-of-a-kind wrapping that will help make any gift you give extra special. First up is a Cake Box template that creates a container that is perfectly sized for a party favor. These projects come together quickly if you work assembly line style. I used the template to cut out and score the lavender cardstock bases and then gathered extra supplies to embellish the boxes. I added patterned paper to the top and sides, as well as a punched “frosting” border. Therm O Web’s Memory Tape Runner XL made putting together the boxes a snap… just a strip of adhesive along one flap and on the other flap and voilà… all ready to fill up with goodies.
A ribbon holds the lid closed and the top can be embellished however you like. I was going for something that looked like a real cake, so I opted for roses and a few dots of glitter glue icing.
These are cute scattered on a table for guests to take as they leave…
or place them on a paper covered cake round to use as a colorful centerpiece/favors.
I am showcasing another new template on my personal blog today… stop by http://www.alicegolden.typepad.com to learn more about how I used the Dress Template to create this sweet Teddy bear gift bag.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
