HeatnBond Mommy and Me Face Warmers
Hey there lovelies! Alicia here again from Sew What Alicia. We have had brutally cold weather around here and my kids are always struggling to keep their faces warm from the wind. They have neck warmers but they are flimsy and don’t stay over their face. Scarves are too restricting on their faces so I needed something that was sturdy but not tight! Today I am sharing a tutorial for sewing these mommy and me face warmers.

Mommy and Me Face Warmers Instructions:

For an adult size cut the flannel to 30″ x 8″. For a youth (this fit my 8 and 5-year-old) cut the flannel to 25″ x 8″. Cut one piece of interfacing that is 1″ smaller on both sides, so the adult size is 29″ x 7″ and the kid size is 24″ x 7″.

Fuse the interfacing to the back of the flannel.

Pin the flannel to the sweater fabric, right sides together. Then trim the knit to the same size as the flannel. It is easier to pin first and then cut because the fabric is so stretchy and doesn’t hold its shape well.

Sew along both long edges and then turn the piece right side out.

Fold the piece in half so that both short ends of the flannel touch. Clip the flannel edges together.

This part is slightly tricky. Starting on the top edge pull the two knit edges together and sew a seam down along the two flannel pieces. Once you are at the bottom of the flannel manipulate the bottom edges of the knit to sew a few inches into the knit as well. When you have pulled it off the machine it should look like this.

The last step is to close the opening. Pull one side of the knit over the flannel seam beneath. Then fold the other edge of the knit under and pin it closed.

Sew this last seam closed. Be careful not to sew through both sides of the face warmer.

Now you have a reversible face warmer for the whole family!
