Halloween Skeleton Color Block Applique Pillow Instructions:

Preparing the Skeleton Applique:

Print out the image onto the HeatnBond EZ-Print Sheets. I like the featherweight for a project like this because it has such a nice hand and doesn’t end up feeling stiff or bulky! Cut out the image leaving a slight margin around the whole thing. Follow the package directions and adhere the image to the back of the fabric.

Cut out the image. I recommend using a pair of sharp small tipped scissors to cut out the small interior pieces.

Center the image on the 6 1/2″ square. Follow the package directions and adhere the image to the square. Repeat for all 9 squares. Take your squares to your sewing machine and sew around the images. I like to use a narrow zig-zag stitch or a blanket stitch (if your machine has one).

Assembly of the Halloween Skeleton Pillow:

Arrange your blocks into 3 rows of 3 squares. Sew the squares together to make rows and then sew the rows together. Add your borders. Press all the seams well. Cut out a 22″ square of StitchnSew fleece and a 22″ square of backing fabric. Spread out the backing fabric, center the fleece on top and then put the quilt top on top of the fleece. I used SpraynBond to baste the layers together before quilting. Quilt the piece as desired. Now you can either add a pillow back first or just add the binding.

All that is left is to enjoy your delightful decoration!

Even little witches will love it!

Happy Haunting!!
