It’s Amanda from Jedi Craft Girl!! I can’t get enough of Halloween crafts and projects!
I love this project because it can be started and finished in about an hour. You can also get creative and let the kiddos have at the HeatnBond® and they can draw their own Halloween motifs!
Supplies:
Pattern, Click HERE
10″ embroidery hoops
12″ square of natural color linen
disappearing ink marker
scraps of orange and white fabric
HeatnBond® Lite
Black Ric Rac
Ribbon
To begin, use the disappearing ink pen and draw around the hoop onto the linen. Trace the pattern shapes onto the HeatnBond®. Cut generously around the shapes and iron to wrong side of fabric. (pictured below)
Cut the shapes out following the pattern lines and place them on the linen as pictured:
Using black thread, sew a straight stitch around each of the shapes about 4 times. It will give a “sketchy” look. Then draw the letters BOO in the disappearing ink. (of course you can write any word you want) Sew the letters BOO about 4 times also. Sew button eyes on the ghost.
After the sewing is done, give the project a quick spritz to make the ink disappear.
I tried wrapping the hoop with black ribbon. This was taking longer then the entire sewing project. So I gave up on that idea.
Center the linen into the hoop and tighten. Trim the linen close to the edge and hot glue down.
Using hot glue, glue Jumbo Black Ric Rac around the hoop. Add a loop to hang and a bow. There are so many ideas you can create with this technique. I have a black cat version in my head!!
