Hello! This week we’re celebrating Gina K Designs and I’ve got two cards for you using some of the fabulous Therm O Web and Gina K Designs products. For my first card I used the Tropical Sunshine Card Kit which is back in stock and there are limited quantities so get it while you can!
I started by cutting a stitched rectangle pattern and at the same time cut a circle window from the center.
I
I used the stencil from the Tropical Sunshine kit and blended some Distress Oxides through it onto the circle cut from the window Squeezed Lemonade, Saltwater Taffy and Kitch Flamingo.
I cut a sorbet panel slightly larger than the rectangle panel with the circle window and added 1/8″ thick foam tape to it around the edges and under the circle for support. Then I placed the circle in the center of the window. I cut a doily (retired Gina K.) and cut the same sized window from the center and then adhered it over the blended window with liquid adhesive.
I foiled some toner paper and cut flowers and leaves from it and arranged them inside and outside the window.
I applied foil to a sheet of acetate using the Gina K Follow Your Dreams Adhesive Transfers butterfly image and some Dazzling Orange foil and then fussy cut it out. I was able to hide some foam tape behind the center of the butterfly and placed it just inside the doily window.
Finally I did the same with one of the sentiments from the Adhesive Transfers and adhered it using tiny dots of adhesive behind the foiled areas. I think adding these to acetate is one of my very favorite techniques! I love how the flowers show through the butterfly wings and adding the sentiment this way takes up very little space on a card and I think it’s cool looking almost seeming to hover over the design.
To finish it off and add some balance to the card I adhered a thin and simple strip to the bottom of the card and finally just a few sequins!
For my second card, I used the Hummingbird image from the Follow Your Dreams Adhesive Transfers along with a few other things! Here’s how I made this one:
I cut another stitched panel and blended some Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Broken China and then applied some Transfer Gel Duo with the Harvest Flourish stencil from Gina K and set it aside for about an hour. While I was waiting I worked on the rest of the elements of the card.
I treated the hummingbird for this one the same as the butterfly for the other. I transferred the adhesive onto a piece of acetate using pressure from my die cutting machine.
And added foil over the top and ran it through again to adhere the foil to the adhesive. Then I fussy cut it out.
I used my laminator to apply Turquoise foil to a sheet of toner paper and die cut the Happy Birthday from it.
I realized the Birthday layered over the Happy, so I decided that it would be best to have them two different colors. I blended the same colors from the background onto another piece of cardstock and cut my Happy letters from it. Perfect!
I applied the foil to the tacky Transfer Gel by hand using a Stencil Pal. I didn’t want a super shiny background and by waiting longer and applying pressure using the Stencil Pal, I got a nice distressed shine. I also die cut the background label (retired Gina K.) from foiled toner paper and layered it over the background and popped the Happy Birthday sentiment over it.
I foiled a scrap strip of a gel print using Iridescent Deco Foil, cut some flowers from it and arranged them around the sentiment and added some cool gems as flower centers.
Finally I popped my Hummingbird over the top and used clear pop up adhesive in very small pieces to make it hover over the card.
That’s me for today! I had fun and hope you did too! Be sure to come back again soon for more Gina K Designs inspiration!
See you again next time!
