Hi, everyone! It’s Lynnea! Today I’m showing you how to get gorgeous foiled images from digital stamps! I’ll admit – I was always afraid of digital stamps. I wasn’t sure how to use them! But after this collaboration with Gracielle Design I’m head over heels in love! One of my main complaints was that when I would resize images the lines looked fuzzy. The Gracielle Design images are absolutely stunning and super high quality! I experimented a LOT with resizing and no matter how big or small I made the images the printed lines were super crisp! I had my images printed at Staples on their laser printers – a perfect recipe for foiling with Deco Foil Transfer Sheets! Hope you love these fun fall cards! Video tutorial at the end of this post!
Fall-Theme Cards
Download the Images
I loved the gorgeous fall-themed images from Gracielle Design so much that I made three cards – each with a different Deco Foil medium! I started my projects by going to the Gracielle Design store and downloading some of my favorite fall-themed digital stamps. Once they were downloaded I opened the images in a Word document and resized them using the photo tool.
This was so easy to do because each of the images is a separate download! I was able to pick and choose individual images and sentiments to add to my document! I don’t own a printer at home, so I sent the document off to Staples and had them print them on heavyweight cardstock. Their printers are laser printers which are perfect for foiling!
I colored all of my images with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers before adding foil. I did a lot of experimenting with coloring and then foiling and foiling and then coloring. Honestly, there wasn’t much of a difference, but coloring after foiling dulled the foil just enough to convince me to color first. You’ll see in the video below – but I colored right over any black inked details – specifically in the pumpkin, donut, and tall coffee mug. Coloring over the “stamped” lines didn’t affect the foil transferring to the images at all!
I used three different digital stamp sets from Gracielle Design – my sentiment and the pumpkin and coffee image came from the Fall in Coffee set, the tall mug and donut images came from the Coffee Lovers set, and the large mug is from the Stay Cozy set. Once all of my images were colored I ran them through my laminator with pieces of Gold Deco Foil. I heated my laminator on the 5 mil setting about 20 minutes AFTER the “ready” light came on and I used a piece of the parchment paper folded in half as my carrier sheet. I added the Gold Deco Foil to all of my colored images as well as the “Happy Fall” sentiment that I used on each card.
Now that all my images are done I needed some backgrounds! I thought about just doing a trio of Deco Foil Metallix backgrounds, but I decided to use three different mediums with the same stencil! I chose a leafy stencil and added some Pure Gold Deco Foil Metallix Gel to one background using a Stencil Pal and Pixie Spray. On another, I used some Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Aqua Deco Foil.
Glitz Glitter Gel
For the last one, I used a mix of Gold and Turquoise Sea Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel. I played around and figured out which images to put on each background and used some iCraft 3D Foam Squares to adhere the images to my backgrounds. To make sure that the images would have a stronghold on the textured backgrounds I used some iCraft Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive on each foam square before adding them to my cards.
I’d love to know which of these three cards is your favorite! I share my favorite in the video below! I think it’s awesome how everyone has different tastes! One of these cards I almost didn’t include because I thought it was just too much – but I changed my mind because it’s my sister’s favorite! Here’s the video!
