Dedo Foils Lips Valentine HeatnBond Pillow

Valentine’s Day is just a few days ahead and what is sweeter than some new pillows to jazz up your couches! I’ve been making new pillow covers for the holidays as I like to change things up as I quickly get very bored with the same decor. So a pillow cover is ideal as they’re quick to make, inexpensive and best of all..look great!

And not only is this for Valentine’s Day..perfect for a teen room or a special gift for a friend who needs some cheering up too! Here’s the supplies you’ll need to get started:

Therm O Web iCraft® Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets in Red

Therm O Web iCraft® Deco Foil™ Iron On Transfer Sheets

Pressing Paper

Moda’s Kiss Kiss Fabrics

  Instructions:

1. Cut 3 pieces of fabrics that measure: 10 by 19 inches, 4 1/2 by 19 inches and 4 1/2 by 19 inches. You’ll also need two pieces that measure 13 by 19 inches for the back.

2. Next I made a pattern of a lip print to match the fabric I am using from Moda’s Kiss Kiss line. You could scan the fabric and print out your design if hand drawing your own seems intimidating.

iCRAFT-IRON-ON-GRAPHIC3. Now grab your Deco Foil™ and fabric and let’s add that fun kissy lip to the fabric. You’ll need a hot iron (steam off) on the wool/silk setting.  To get started lay you fabric on a smooth surface. Find the center and press on the the Iron-On Transfer sheet (bumpy side to the fabric)  with your kissy lip template. Press the Iron-On Transfer to your fabric. Allow to cool and remove the top liner which will expose the adhesive.

4. Then lay the sheet of iCraft® Deco Foil™ onto the lip. Remember to lay the  foil with the color up..grey side down. Cover with a pressing sheet and apply strong and even pressure for 30 seconds to the entire area. Remove the pressing sheet and allow the foil to completely cool. Then gently lift off the Deco Foil™ Sheet to reveal the lip design on your fabric.

5. Now you can complete sewing the pillow. Fold the top fabric right side to right side and sew your seams to complete the front design of the pillow.

6. I followed this wonderful tutorial from Designer Amanda Niederhauser to complete the pillow and the envelope back.

And here’s the simple companion pillow I made to go with it!
