Hi!  I am Amanda over here from Jedi Craft Girl.  I am so excited to share with you my quilted pillow pattern.  I love the fabrics at xo.gigi!!   I decided on this throw pillow pattern so I could see these happy prints everyday in my home.  This is a quick, easy way to showcase fabrics with big prints.  This pattern is for an 18″ pillow form.

There are 3 pieces of fabric for the pillow front.  Cut to these dimensions:

Main teal print 12 3/4″ x 19″

Yellow accent strip 2″ x 19″

Yellow background with teal flowers 5 1/4″ x 19″

Piece the fabrics in the order below.  Press seams to one side.

The pieced block should finish 19″ x 19″

I quilted mine.  If you don’t have experience machine quilting, you can skip this step and sew the back on.

Using SpraynBond® Basting Spray or pins, layer a piece of quilt batting under the pillow tip.  I quilted mine with my walking foot sewing 1″ vertical lines.

Once it is quilted, trim any access batting.  The top shrinks slightly with the quilting, it’s OK.

Prepare the back

For this pillow I made an envelope back.  It is super easy: no zipper, no hand stitching – YEA!!

Cut 2 pieces of fabric 13″ x 19″

Sew a narrow rolled hem on one of the 19″ sides of each piece.  (Below)

I think it’s cute to add a little accent piece along the back.  This is optional too.

Cut a strip of coordinating fabric 2″x19″

Fold the edges (length) in 1/4″ and press

Pin in place and topstitch about an inch from one of the hemmed edges.

I love topstitching!!

Now layer your 2 back pieces right sides up, with the hemmed edges overlapping about 4 inches as pictured below. ( I choose linen for my back, so it looks a little wrinkly)

Now pin your pillow front right sides together.  Sew a generous 1/4″ seam around the pillow.

Turn your pillow and insert the pillow form.

The back is cute too!

A happy couch and a sleepy kitty!

I hope you enjoy making one too!!
