Hello there! I am so excited to share my first project with you on the Therm O Web blog! This was my first time playing with the iCraft® Deco Foil™ and it was so fun!
I have a birthday coming up for a special soon-to-be four year old and he wanted an ocean/sea creature party. I decided a fun, shiny, bubble garland made from Teal Deco Foil™ would be a perfect decor touch, and provide background for photographs!
I used a plastic table cloth and some crepe paper for the background against the wall, and some creatures that I cut from paper with my die cutting machine. Then I added a hanging Deco Foil™ garland that I created with the Teal iCraft Deco Foil and some scrap pieces of fabric.
Here’s how:
1. Using a die cutting machine or circle punches, punch various size circles from the DecoFoil™ Hot Melt Adhesive sheets.
2. Using an iron on medium setting with no steam, iron the adhesive circles (rough side down) onto the fabric. Be sure to use the parchment paper sheets under your iron and on top of your fabric and adhesive. Let cool slightly and pull off the top white paper layer.
3. Next, take your desired color of Deco Foil™ and place it color side up on top of your adhesive circles. Again layer the parchment paper on top and iron. While ironing, be sure to apply a bit of pressure and continue for 30-40 seconds.
4. LET COOL COMPLETELY before removing the clear top layer of DecoFoil™.
5. Next, cut out your circles by hand and pair them up. I used Fabric Fuse™ liquid adhesive to glue my circles together, foil side out. Let dry for about 4-6 hours.
6. Finally, machine stitch your circles in a chain, leaving 3-4″ of thread in between each circle. Hang up your garland and enjoy!
