Hi All Jennifer here from Be Still My Crafting Heart. Family has been on the mind so when I got to planning my project I thought about cooking. Do you spend a lot of time in the kitchen with family? I know I do. Dear Stella fabrics seemed to really want to be an apron with pretty trims. This far quarter aprons comes together so quickly you will want to make a couple.
Project Supplies:
HeatnBond® Woven Fusible Soft Interfacing , 1/8 yard
5 fat quarters, Dear Stella “Mumseed Meadow”
3/4 inch wide Lace, 1 yard (cut in half)
1 1/2 inch wide Ribbon, 2 yards (cut in half)
1/2 inch wide RicRac, 1 yard
Thread
Oliso Iron
Sewing Machine
Fabric Cuts:
Waist: 4 1/4 inch x 21 1/2 fabric & 3 3/4 inch x 21 HeatnBond Woven Fusible, Soft
Center: (1) 6 inch x 17 1/2 inch
Panels: 2 sets of (2) 6 inch x 17 1/2 inch (4 total from 2 fabrics)
Sides: (2) 8 inch x 17 1/2 inch
Project Instructions:
Baste lace in place on edges of center panel with 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Fold side panels in half with right sides out and press edge. Join side panel with other panels using a 1/4 inch seams in order: Side, Panel, Panel, Center, Panel, Panel, Side. Press seams toward center of apron.
If you have an Overlock machine I highly recommend finishing all your seams with it..and the bottom.
Sew RicRac to bottom edge of apron matching the RicRac with bottom edge and stitching along the center of RicRac. Flip RicRac to pack and press. Top stitch hem.
Press HeatnBond® Interfacing to wrong side of waistband. Press 1/4 inch up the length of waist band.
Gather top edge of apron to 21 inches. Center waist band on apron front and stitch together. Place ribbon at ends of waist band, fold waistband in half over ribbon with wrong sides facing. Sitch along side of waistband. Turn waistband right side out and press. Top stitch on front side of apron 1/8 inch from bottom edge of waistband.
That’s it. All done. Happy Sewing!!
