Celebrate! Fireworks Scrapbook Layout with Brutus Monroe Foils

by Heather Collins

It’s true some of the best memories are from just doing the day-to-day activities.  Some of these happen when you least expect it.  This was true on Memorial Day 2014.  My oldest was supposed to march with the scouts and it was their first time.  We got the kids all dressed up to go to the parade and celebrate.  I turned my head and was able to capture this moment in time with my camera of pure childhood bliss.

Celebrate Scrapbook Layout Tutorial

To start this project I took a bunch of scrapbook paper that I had and made my 12″x12″ base layer.  My bottom layer is a 12″x12″ piece of cardstock, this is so I can make sure that I am able to put it into an album later if I wish.  I had a piece of cardstock that had different stripes and I cut out the ones I wanted to use.

On each side of this strip, I added the iCraft Easy-Tear Tape and put a piece of Brutus Monroe Foil Transfer Sheets – Gold Static and using a brayer applied it.  To piece all of my scrapbook pieces together I used the iCraft Easy-Tear Tape.

To achieve the Fireworks in the background I used Brutus Monroe Fireworks Frenzy Stencil, iCraft Removable Pixie Spray and a pallet knife. For three fireworks I used the Deco Foil Transfer Gel Blanco and Brutus Monroe Foil Transfer Sheets in Gold Static, with a laminator after it was dry.  For the other three I used Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel – Red Velvet: and the last firework blast was with the Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel – Brillant Blue.

Then I attached my photo with the iCraft Easy-Tear Tape.  Even though the title had adhesive I used iCraft UltraBond Permanent Dries Clear Adhesive the pen tip makes this so easy and I don’t have to worry about the title coming off later.

I wanted to add something extra and making my own ‘fireworks’ seemed like the perfect way of finishing off my project.  So with my laminator, I foiled one of the sun card panels found in the Brutus Monroe Toner Card Front Mixables – Really Radiant card panel pack.  Then I randomly cut it into three pieces around 2″.

Then I realized I didn’t have anything black cord, but I had a pack of hair ties and cut one into thirds.  I ink blended in red and then using the iCraft UltraBond Permanent Dries Clear Adhesive I rolled them into tubes and glued a piece of hair tie into the bottom of each of the ‘fireworks’.  Lastly attaching them to the project.

Don’t be afraid of those little moments, they might just be big moments when you look back at them.
