Autumnal Season
by Heather Collins
I love fall; the crisp air, the hay rides, decorating, the food…well everything! Every year I start decorating but first I go shopping just to add a few things into season. I saw hand craved pumpkins but they unfortunately were not in this years budget. So I set out to make my own, well my interpretation.
To start this project I got an unpainted Ceramic pumpkin from a big box store, but you could really get anyone. Just make sure that it is 3-D for the full effect. I die cut out the British Monroe fabulous florals cutting die set using Brutus Monroe Not Your Mama’s Cardstock. Then attached the pieces onto the pumpkin using iCraft Ultrabond Ahesive Liquid Glue.
After everything was dried I attached flatback pearls. Then using the Brutus Monroe White Gesso, coated my entire pumpkin twice.
Next I painted the pumpkin with a Blue acrylic paint, Brutus Monroe Chroma Mist Peacock Feathers and Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigment – Creamy Violet and let dry. I added a few dots of copper paint on a few raised areas.
To finish the pumpkin off I dabbed some more iCraft Ultrabond Liquid Adhesive Glue just here and there on the pumpkin and let dry till tacky. I also added iCraft Zots -Small in some of the ridges of the pumpkin. Lastly I took a piece of Decofoil Transfer Foil Bronze and with the shiny side up rubbed so that it attached to where it was sticky. To add that final touch I added more liquid adhesive to the stem and the let get tacky and rubbed the Bronze foil on it too.
