Zero Calories
By Heather Collins
My Best Friend is turning 50 and we love going out to eat and enjoying a special drink here and there. For her 50th birthday I wanted to create something that she could remember this special dinner.
To start this project I found a blank wooden drink piece and painted the whole thing with three coats of white as a solid base. Then I used yellow, orange and pink acyclic paint on the piece. Splattering after I was done. To make it look a little sparkly I added glitter paint to the inside of the “glass”.
When the piece was dry I took “iCraft Easy-Tear Tape, 1/4 in x 25 yd” and added it around the edge of the piece. Next I took a piece of the “Deco Foil Color Harmony Transfer Foil Multi-Pack – Shades of Orange” and the piece that looked like it had silver and orange on it placed it on the taped edges. And then rubbed with just my finger. This gave my “glass” the look of a distressed glass and I didn’t have to worry about it being perfect because of the distressed look.
To finish the piece off I took a piece of the “Deco Foil Plush Paper – Black Velvet” and cut it out in the shape of the bottom of my “glass”. Lastly I added “Brutus Monroe Acrylic Bubbles” inside my “glass”. Both of these worked perfectly with the “iCraft UltraBond Permanent Dries Clear Adhesive”. I can’t wait to give this memorable piece to my friend and the best thing is there is ‘zero calories’!
