As we all know, the sentiment is truly why we send cards.. whether it be to say thank you, happy birthday, or simply let that special person know you are thinking of them. With so much importance being on the sentiment, it seems a shame for the greeting to take second stage. So why not let it be the star of the show and shine brightly for all to see? I’ll show you how today with this sweet card featuring a fun two-toned foiled sentiment from Gina K Designs.
How great is that sentiment? You are my person. Framed in crisp, bold black, and set off with beautiful Fancy Foil shine. Doesn’t get much more eye-catching than that. Let’s take a closer look.
You Are My Person Card Instructions:
To begin, create a standard A2 horizontal card base from Luxury White Premium Cardstock. Layer the base with two contrasting panels of patterned paper, and add a thin strip of paper along the seam where the two patterns meet.
Place the smallest die from the Oval Large die set in the middle of the card base, centered in the top panel of patterned paper. Hold the die in place with a bit of Therm O Web Purple Tape, and run the card base through your die cutting machine. Reserve the inner oval shape cut from the card base, and then die cut three additional ovals from white cardstock.
Trim out the sentiment from the Sweet Expressions Foil-Mates sheets, making sure to leave a decent border around all the edges.
Turn on your laminator machine, and let it heat up until the ready light turns green. Cut small pieces of Fancy Foil sheets that are just slightly larger than the Foil-Mate sentiment. If you want to use more than one color, simply cut smaller sections of foil that will cover just the area you wish to foil. Lay the foil onto the Foil-Mate, with the colored side up and the shiny silver side down.
Place a piece of scrap cardstock between the pages of a folded sheet of parchment paper, and then place the Foil-Mate onto the cardstock. Put the folded end of the parchment paper into the laminator, and let it run through.
Peel off the Fancy Foil pieces to reveal the now foiled sentiment.
Using the same oval die as before, center the die over the foiled sentiment with a bit of Purple Tape, and die cut it out. Stack all the die cut ovals, and adhere them together using XL Memory Tape adhesive. Adhere the stacked ovals into the oval window opening in the card base.
Nestle the oval die with the next largest die, and hold them in place with Purple Tape. Die cut the oval frame from Black Onyx Premium Cardstock. Adhere the frame around the foiled sentiment. Wrap white twine around the bottom of the card, tying it into a simple knot on the right side. Trim the ends of the twine close to the knot.
Cluster several cardstock stickers together to create a focal image for the design. Add 3D Adhesive Squares onto the backside of the stickers, being mindful to keep the adhesive squares away from the areas going over the bumpy twine, and especially away from the areas that overlap the sentiment oval. Once you have the squares strategically in place, pat over the backside of the stickers with an embossing powder tool to remove the sticky from the areas not covered in foam squares. Adhere the sticker cluster to the right side of the card, folding over any portions of sticker that extend off the edge on to the inside of the card. Round the two bottom corners with a corner rounder punch.
Die cut two small hearts from pink patterned paper, and adhere them to the center of the foiled hearts. Here’s a peek at the card when it is open. I love the dimension of the sentiment, and how it snugs into the opening die cut in the top of the card.
And another look at the dimension and layers, and all that beautiful shine.
Enjoy!
