Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share my Authentique project with you.  I love this smitten line by Authentique and have created several projects with it the last couple of weeks but I think this one is my favorite.
Valentine Altered Book by Jenifer Cowles
Supplies:
Authentique Smitten Collection:
Old book with good covers
Doilies and key: Curtsey Boutique
All ribbons: May Arts
Other: Paint, Spackle
Cover:  Apply a thin layer of Spackle to the front and back cover of your book.  Spray with pink Glitter dust to give it that little bit of extra sparkle.  Go around the edges with some ink.  To make the 3-D heart punch out several hearts, fold them in half and using a glue stick, glue one half to another half till you have several glued together.  Layer a heart doily, 3-D heart and ribbons till you have your desired cover.

Here is a sneak of the book slightly open with all of the fun goodies showing.

Page 1:  Heart Doily. Authentique sticker with foam dots to give dimension.

Page 2:  Using a craft knife cut out a large heart making sure you do not cut all the way to the edges. This “page” is about 25 pages.  Take half the pages and adhere a transparent page the back of one page using a glue stick glue 3 more pages together and then another transparent page.  Before you adhere the transparent sections together punch out some heart confetti, glitter and one of the cute postage stamps and put it between the pages.  You now have a small shaker box.  Add embellishments.

Page 3: Using a craft knife cut out a medium heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.
Page 4:  Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Half way through your set of pages adhere a piece of bakers twine down the center of your heart.  This is where the sequins heart will rest.  Apply your embellishments.
Page 5:  Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.

Page 6: Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.

Page 7: Using a craft knife cut out your smallest heart through your last set of pages.  Using the same technique as page 2 apply a slightly transparent paper such as vellum through the center of your pages, so the cute sticker can be seen on your last page. Apply your embellishments.

Back Page:  Adhere another heart doily and an adorable sticker using foam squares.  Apply your embellishments.

Back Cover:  Embellish as desired.

** Notes** There is a little bit of prep time involved getting your book ready to be decorated.  Take out about half of the pages.  The Super stick glue sticks work wonderful when gluing the book pages together.  When I had everything in place the way I wanted it I went back through the book and applied some paints and some more Spackle (just using my finger).  When everything was dry I then did all my little detail work with a fine point black pen.  Just remember there is no wrong way to do this and just have fun.

Thank you so much for checking out my project today, make sure you stop by the rest of the week for the rest of our Authentique swap.
