It’s that time of year!
Time to reflect on all that we are thankful for.
Family, home, friends, pets, health, education…good cup of coffee, sunshine, clear blue skies…it’s the little things that add up to all the that we’re thankful for.
Today Designer Jenifer Cowles has a beautiful way to remind yourself to be truly thankful. Today and all the year round!
Thankful Wallhanging by Jenifer Cowles
Therm O Web Supplies:
Other Supplies:
Embroidery Thread
Various scraps of fabric (this would be a fantastic project to get rid of some of your scraps)
Canvas by the yard
Artist canvas this one is 16×20
Metallic Gold thread (optional, this was actually very difficult to sew with but the result is beautiful)
Staple Gun
Ribbon
Step 1: Gather supplies
Step 2: Trace your leaf shape on the HeatNBond Lite then iron it on to your fabric
Step 3: Cut out all of your pieces and admire all your little pieces of cut scraps.
Step 4: Embroider what and who you are thankful for on your cut out pieces.
Step 5: Layout how you want your pieces to go and then Iron them all down.
Step 6: Go to your sewing machine and sew all your pieces down. After sewing everything down turn your work over to the back and pull all your threads to the back.
Step 7: Staple your work to a canvas, or if you have some stretcher bars you could staple to those as well. A tip for stapling: Start at the middle and staple then go to the opposite side and stretch it out smooth then staple again, working your way all around your canvas.
Step 8: Staple a ribbon to the outside corners to hang, this is optional.
Here is a closeup of some of the detail. I hope you have enjoyed my project today, make sure you come back often for more inspiration.
