The beach is something that is an escape for many. The sound of the waves, the feel of the wind on your face, the sand under your feet. For that moment it is “everything”.
The Beach Fixes Everything Sign
To start this project I took a white wood sign that I got from a big box store and painted with a variety of white, blues, and brown acrylic paint. I added metallic copper with glitter to the sand part and streaks of Gina K Glitter Gel – Turquoise Sea in the blue. Then I set this aside to thoroughly dry before doing anything else.
Next, I stamped directly on my printed sign Whimsy Stamps “Create a Scene -Beach” with Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink. Instead of cutting my stamp, I used Gina K Designs Masking Magic to cover the parts of the stamp I didn’t want to use and a brayer to make a full impression.
After attaching iCraft Easy-Cut Adhesive to the back of ICraft Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets “White Latte, Tuscan Gold, Blue Sky” I cut out my lettering. To make it easy to pop out I layered Brutus Monroe Die Release Sheets. Then attached my letters directly to my painted background.
I stamped out the Whimsy Stamp “Sea Turtle” with Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink onto Brutus Monroe Perfect Blend Paper. To color my sea turtle I used COPIC Markers. The head and legs with COPIC B601, V04, BG01, W7, Y28. The shell was with Y21, Y26, B601, and Y95. After fussy cutting the sea turtle out, I attached him with the iCraft 3D foam squares.
To finish the piece off I glued on Sparkletz Embellishments “Sea Water” in various spots on the water part of the piece. I think this turned out even better than I could have imagined. Now to find the perfect spot for it to go on my wall.
