Hello everyone! Justin Adkins here, and I am SO incredibly excited to be sharing my very first blog as a member of the Therm O Web Paper Design Team! I absolutely adore this company, all of the amazing products, and have been fan boy-ing hard for the super talented members of the Design Team for a long while now!
I cannot believe that the holidays are right around the corner, and I feel like I always need an extra holiday card or 2! For today’s post, I used the Gina K. Designs StampnFoil Baby It’s Cold Outside Stamp Set, along with its coordinating Die Set & StampnFoil Foil-Mates Detail Sheets to make a Navy & Gold Winter Thank You Card! Let’s get to it!
Thanks Snow Much Snowflake Card with Gina K. Designs
The very first thing I did was start my laminator so it would be hot and ready for me when I needed it later on. Next, I took out 2 of the Baby It’s Cold Outside snowflake stamps along with 2 sheets of the StampnFoil Foil-Mates Detail Sheets.
I knew I was going to need 2 sheets because I wanted to use one of the snowflake designs twice! I grabbed my Catherine Pooler Dress Blues Ink and stamped my snowflake stamps over the designs I selected for them on the Foil-Mates Detail Sheet. I let these dry entirely for a couple minutes just to prevent any potential smearing.
Next, using the Baby It’s Cold Outside Coordinating Dies, I cut out my 3 designs by using some Purple Tape to hold the dies to the Detail Sheets and running them through my Die Cutting Machine. I set these aside for later.
Next, I wanted to work on a couple background elements for my card. I wanted to use some layered paneling, and my inner-most panel was just going to be white cardstock with some gold detail.
I grabbed my Tiny Snowfall Stencil from Miss Ink Stamps, tacked it down on top of my panel, and used a Palette Knife, followed with my Stencil Pal, to spread a solid layer of Gina K. Designs Gold Glitz Glitter Gel. I then carefully removed my stencil, set aside my panel to dry, and immediately headed to the sink to clean off my stencil and tools.
While my Glitz Glitter Gel dried, I noticed my laminator was at a good point to start using it. I grabbed a Deco Foil Toner Sheet and trimmed it down to an A2-sized panel (4.25″ x 5.5″) I then placed a piece of Gina K. Designs Fancy Transfer Foil in Glimmering Gold on top of the panel, put it into my parchment paper sandwich and ran it through my laminator. The foil transferred perfectly! I trimmed my panel down to 4.125″ x 5.375″ and set it aside.
Next, using that same Glimmering Gold Fancy Foil, I grabbed my 3 snowflakes with a piece of scrap Fancy Foil from the previous run, placed them into my parchment paper sandwich, and also ran them through my laminator. I removed the snowflakes from the fancy foil sheet and set them aside once again.
I took the sentiment “Thank You Snow Much”, stamped it onto In the Navy Cardstock with watermark ink, and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I fussy cut the sentiment and set it aside with the snowflakes.
I was in the home stretch now! So I first took my slightly-smaller-than-A2-sized Glimmering Gold panel and adhered it to an A2-sized piece of In the Navy Cardstock with my iCraft Memory Tape Runner XL. I wanted to use a dry adhesive like the Tape Runner XL just because I knew my toner sheet with the foil would adhere correctly with it! Next, I took my Gold Glitz Glitter Gel panel, trimmed it down to about 3.875″ x 5.125″, and adhered that directly on top of the Glimmering Gold portion of my panel. This gave me a double framing effect.
To finish this card off, I arranged my 3 snowflakes in a row, adhering them together using Ultrabond Permanent Dries Clear Adhesive, adhered the sentiment onto the right side of the unit, and then placed some 1/16″ iCraft 3D Foam Tape (from the Jumbo Roll) to make it pop up on the card. Once I removed the backing and got the unit into place, I took some Iridescent Bubble Embellishments from Studio Katia and adhered one to the center of each snowflake, and also adhered a few in the top left and bottom right corner of the cards! I adhered the final product onto an A2-sized card panel and was completed!
