Hello everyone!  This is Kim Lapacek of Persimon Dreams visiting with you on the blog today! Every year I host a fun challenge on my blog called Project QUILTING.  Project QUILTING Is a challenge that gives you a prompt and then ONE WEEK to start and finish the challenge.  I know this deadline sounds insane but I promise it’s doable!

HeatnBond Lite

One tool that helps me add that extra “pop” to so many of the quilts I make for Project QUILTING Challenges is HeatNBond Lite. HeatNBond Lite is truly a game changer.

I’ve used HeatNBond Lite for two the three challenges so far in Season 10 of Project QUILTING.

Hope Springs Eternal

The first challenge was “Hope Springs Eternal” and I made a quilt I called “New Nest”.

I started out my project with a sketch of this bird.  I knew I wanted to raw edge applique this onto the quilt and HeatNBond Lite made that fast and easy!  I just traced the parts I wanted in different colors onto the HeatNBond Lite and fused them right down to the quilt top.

In a few hours – this piece was complete!

Red, White and Blue

The second challenge for Project QUILTING Season 10 was Red, White and Blue.  I went to my go-to quilt pattern – a convergence quilt.

Once I had it all together it just wasn’t enough.  I knew I needed to applique some things onto it and HeatNBond Lite made this possible!

I fused a chunk of HeatNBond Lite to the wrong side of the Alison Glass Diving Board fabric.  Once it was fused I was able to fussy cut bits of the fabric out and add it to the quilt.  I also fused HeatNBond lite to whale and sand dollar fabric.  All these little things just made the piece pop.

Pixel Play

The current challenge from Project QUILTING is “Pixel Play” and I have a plan that will definitely involve HeatNBond lite.  My fingers are crossed that it looks as amazing on fabric as it does in my mind!

    I agree. Heat N Bond Lite is terrific stuff. I’ve been working my way through applique with it ever since I discovered Heat N Bond Lite in an applique class. I used it to add applique to a pieced quilt that just needed a little extra something to make it pop. I’m currently working on a BOM that I’m redesigning from pieced to applique in out of the box fashion. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge!
