I started my cards by hot foiling the Love Heart foil plate on Trinity Stamps glossy black cardstock with silver hot foil from Thermoweb. TIP: Be sure to play around with your foil plates and die cut machine. I have found that I need different thicknesses of shims depending on the foil plates. My first try here came out with a silver mess. So I removed a shim and replaced it with two pieces of cardstock and it worked beautifully! Be patient with yourself! Trial and error is a thing and that’s okay!
Once the foiling was finished, I used the die in the set to cut the hearts out. Then I set them aside for later. After playing with them in the light for a bit. They’re SO PRETTY!
I was excited for an excuse to use the Lawn Fawn cuties from last year in the Scent with Love and Add-on sets. I stamped and colored a few images with Copic markers keeping my color palette simple. R20s for my reds and toner gray for my skunks. With a few BG32/11 accents to tie in what will be my background color. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out and a little UltraBond liquid glue to adhere things to the skunk’s hands.
Next, I prepped my images and hearts with foam squares and foam tape. Because, if you’ve seen anything I create…I LOVE dimension! Seriously…I’m a problem. 🙂
Finally, I got inky for my background. To save a step, I started with teal cardstock and inked the edges with distress oxide peacock feathers ink. Then I flicked watered-down ink on the panels and let it dry. Then I flicked unicorn watercolor from LH Colors on my panels for shimmer and shine. (Tip: I let it dry so that when I flicked my watercolor on the panel, they stayed separate and didn’t mix together. Extra splatters mean extra texture, which I love almost as much as dimension.)
I forgot to take photos but I did stamp sentiments from the add-on set in peacock ink from Lawn Fawn and used sentiment banner dies to cut them out. Then, I glued the teal panels to white card bases and started removing release paper and popping things in place.
I chose a cute little mini scene for my first card using these two skunks giving SWEET gifts to each other. I adore these two!!!
Then I kept the second card a little simpler with one skunk and her huge heart! We’re going to pretend this is a box of chocolates because, well, chocolate! 🙂
I love the hot foil shine on the heart! It seriously looks like I bought a foiled die cut. These foils are gorgeous and come out so smooth!
I almost forgot to mention! For finishing touches, I kept it simple with glossy accents on parts of the images – skunk noses, bow, balloon and hearts. No matter how the light hits these cards, there is something sparkling at the recipient! SO FUN!
I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!
