For my project, I thought it would be fun to put together a whole bucket of summer fun! This is an assortment of items that will keep kids busy on sunny and rainy days.

To create the pinwheels, I used this terrific free pattern from Heather Bailey.

To make these papers double sided, I adhered two sheets together using my SuperStik glue stick.

Because this was a little heavier than a regular double sided sheet of paper, in the step where you attach the blades of the pinwheel together using an eyelet, I actually did this in three parts and secured just a couple of blades together at a time. (This will make more sense if you try this project for yourself). Once I got the hang of it, they were fairly easy to put together.

Who doesn’t love a pinwheel on a beautiful summer afternoon?

As a kid, nothing beat getting a brand new box of crayons – the more colors, the better! Covering the box with paper is super easy and makes it that much more special to receive.

To begin, cover the box with strips of iCraft tape. iCraft is a thin, double-sided adhesive that can be torn (as well as punched or die cut).

Then just add strips of paper to cover the top and sides. On the back I left room so the built-in crayon sharpener wouldn’t be covered over.

I cut the paper to fit the back and then used a small circle punch to cut an opening for the sharpener. Ink around the edges helps cover any imperfections.

Another perennial favorite is a jar of bubbles. A bit of paper and embellishment helps dress up this $1 bottle of summer fun.

I used SuperStik to adhere the papers together and iCraft tape to attach it to the bottle.

A brad holds the layers of flowers together, but a 3D Zot was used to attach the embellishment to the bottle.

A box of dominoes is another thing that will keep the young (and young at heart) happily occupied. How perfect was this paper? A little bit wrapped around the box is all you need.

This inexpensive plastic bucket was dressed up with heart “polka dots” made from another of the Sunday Afternoon papers. It makes a great container to hold all the gifts and can be put to good use afterwards.

To turn the paper hearts into stickers, I roughly cut them from the sheet of paper and then stuck them on a sheet of iCraft. Then I cut around each one and peeled off the backing paper before attaching it to the bucket. They might not survive a trip to the beach, but it will look cute when you give the gift.
