Howdy ya’ll, it’s Jamie Mueller of Sunflower Quilts back with another project. I was lucky to get to play with this fun new fabric line called Strawberry Fields by Jennifer Heynen for In The Beginning Fabrics. It’s the perfect fabric line for the warmer weather finally coming around!
This is more of a technique tutorial than a quilt tutorial.  I used our Feeling Grungy Quilt pattern available HERE and then appliqued some designs taken straight from the cute fabric.

This is a fun technique to add some spunk to your projects.  Fabric designers make our jobs easy when they design such cute fabric, so we might as well use it to our advantage for applique!

Project Supplies:

HeatNBond® Feather Lite iron on adhesive

fabric with a design for applique – Strawberry Festival (produced by In the Beginning Fabrics) Designed by Jennifer Jangles was used for this projects

Project Directions:

1. Choose a fabric with a fun design to use for applique design.

2. Following instructions on packaging, iron on the Feather LIte Heat N Bond® to the WRONG side of the fabric.

3. Cut out desired designs from fabric.

5. Iron cut out design in desired place on your project.

6. Optional: I did not applique around the cut out bird design on this project because I am going to quilt over the entire thing which will secure it enough for me.  If you want your applique to be more secure, applique around entire cut out using a zigzag stitch.

I hope you enjoy this technique; let the fabric speak for itself and assist you on your applique projects!
