Hello there! It’s Andrea back with you sharing a fun way to use Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets. I love Therm O Web’s flock and have used it in many ways – transferred it, die-cut it, stenciled on it – but had never stamped on it and decided to give it a whirl. For both cards I used the Gina K. Designs Petals & Wings Stamp N Stencil collection. These images are so pretty and cheerful!
Stamping on White Flock
I played it safe and first stamped the images onto White Latte Flock. Before stamping, I adhered a piece of flock to white cardstock with the Tape Runner XL. This step gave some stability to the flock. I stamped the images with my MISTI as I needed to stamp each image multiple times to get a good impression. I used the coordinating dies to help with placement of layered images, but you could die-cut first and then stamp if you prefer. I thought the colors stamped true to life on the flock. I found it was key to use a hybrid ink as dye inks did not transfer well, but feel free to try whatever inks you have.
Stamping on Colored Flock
Therm O Web has so many beautiful colors of flock, I decided to see how the images looked on colored flock. In order to compare apples to apples, I used the same inks with one exception: The green ink I had did not show up well on the Green Envy Flock. On the layered images, I sometimes omitted the base layer as it seemed superfluous with the colored flock and I preferred the images without it. The colors were a bit softer on the colored flock but are still pretty close to their actual shade.
Adding Glitz to Stamped Flock
Of course, I couldn’t leave the images alone: They needed some sparkle, so out came the Glitz Glitter Gel. I love that the coordinating stencil allows you to add texture so easily to the stamped images! For the ladybug’s spots, I used black, naturally. For the other images, I created custom colors with the Iridescent Gel. To do that, I simply smooshed the ink pad I had stamped with onto my work surface and mixed a small amount of gel into the ink. A little gel goes a long way, and you can get unlimited colors this way!
Assembling the Cards
To help create my wreath, I traced a circle die onto an A2 panel of white cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from Petals & Wings with Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear heat-embossed it. I blended the inside of the circle with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, allowing the color to fade to white in the center. After placing a mask over the circle, I flicked black paint over the panel. Once the paint was dry, I adhered my images with Mixed Media Adhesive, starting with a layer of the blue-green foliage over the pencil line.
I continued adhering my images, popping up some with Gina K. Designs Foam Squares. The squares did not always want to adhere to the flock, so I applied a bit of Mixed Media Adhesive to secure them.
I attached each panel to a white card with Gina K. Designs Terrific Tape. For a finishing touch, I adhered some clear drops with Mixed Media Adhesive.
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to know if you prefer the images stamped on the white or the colored flock.
