Hi friends, it is Jennifer Long of Bee Sew Inspired, back to share a calorie-free treat with you!!! Doughnut Stuffies!!!
Join me today as we make some delicious stuffed doughnuts. Some with a hole in the middle and some with filling! These are so fun to make and have ZERO calories! So put on your apron and let’s bake some Stuffed Fabric Doughnuts together!

6″ square of Cotton Fabric for icing (I used Rainbowfruit by Damask Love for Riley Blake Designs)
Embroidery Thread in matching icing colors
Hand sewing needle
scissors
Cricut Maker or other cutting machine for SVG File (optional)
Small amount of Polyester Fiber Fill
Donut Stuffy Instructions
1. Download the FREE Doughnut Pattern designed by Bee Sew Inspired HERE. You can choose either the PDF Pattern to hand-cut your shapes or the SVG Cut File and follow the directions to have your Cricut Maker cut the felt shapes. Make sure to use your rotary blade and set the fabric to felt.
2. Cut out 2 Doughnut main circles (with or without in the inside hole) from the dough colored felt using either the FREE PDF pattern or SVG files above.
3. For the icing, take a 6″ square of your favorite cotton fabric and a 6″ square of HeatnBond Lite Sewable Iron-on Adhesive. Preheat your iron to medium heat with no steam. Place the adhesive side against the wrong side of the cotton fabric. Note the paper liner should face up. Place and hold the iron on the paper liner for 2 seconds. Repeat until the entire surface is bonded. Allow to cool.
4. Cut out 1 icing shape from the fused cotton using either the FREE PDF pattern or SVG files above – with or without the center hole.
5. Remove the paper backing from the icing shape and align the icing on top of one of the prepared doughnut shapes. Press with a warm iron to fuse in place. (Note: wool-blend felt can withstand heat from the iron, synthetic felt can melt. Cover with a pressing paper to protect your iron.
6. Stitch around the edge of your icing shape with your sewing machine straight stitch to firmly hold the piece in place. Then using 3 strands of coordinating hand embroidery thread color (I used DMC), stitch a decorative blanket stitch around the perimeter to prevent any fraying and give some dimension.
7. Place the 2 matching Doughnut pieces right sides together and pin in place. Using your sewing machine and a shortened stitch length, sew around the perimeter at 1/8″ seam allowance. If making the Doughnut with a center hole, you can stitch around the ENTIRE perimeter of the circle. If making the full-filled Doughnut, leave a 2″ opening for turning.
8. Turn the Doughnut shape right side out and using your finger or a blunt-edged tool, push out on all the seams from the inside so the doughnut shape is fully turned out.
9. For the Doughnut hole shape ONLY: Using your coordinating embroidery thread and a tiny blanket stitch, hand sew the 2 pieces together on the inner circle 2/3rds of the way around. Do not cut your thread. Stuff the Doughnut fully using little bits of stuffing at a time and a stuffing tool such as a knitting needle, pencil, or hemostats. Once fully stuffed finish the remaining hand stitching to close up the doughnut center.
10. For the full-filled Doughnut shape only. Stuff the Doughnut fully using little bits of stuffing at a time and a stuffing tool such as a knitting needle, pencil, or hemostats. Using a hand sewing needle and thread, close the opening using a ladder or invisible stitch.
Your stuffed Doughnut is now complete!
