Happy spring everyone!  I’m happy to be back on the Thermoweb blog today to share the Flower Fun Baby Quilt I created with the Thermoweb Spring Sew Along Quilt Blocks.  Combining patchwork with applique is one of my favorite ways to make quilts.  This baby sized quilt is fast to make and sweet to give.

Flower Fun Baby Quilt Instructions:

All seams are stitched at ¼”

Read all instructions before beginning

Make 5 patchwork quilt blocks.

The block is called Classic.  The full tutorial to make the Classic quilt block is on the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days page at Creatin’ in the Sticks.  Click here for the tutorial for block 20.

Create the quilt top

Next, stitch the blocks together as shown in the finished picture with patchwork Classic blocks in the four corners and center.  Press the quilt.

Now, add 2 white borders to the sides of the quilt.  Stitch 2 of the 3″ x 30 1/2″ white fabric strips with right sides together to the sides of the quilt and press the seam allowances.

The last step in piecing the quilt is to stitch the 4 blue corner blocks to the ends of the last 2 white border strips right sides together.  Next, matching the seams with right sides together,  stitch them to the top and bottom of the quilt and press.

Baste the quilt

Use SpraynBond basting adhesive to hold the layers of fabrics and StitchNSew Sew-In High Loft Fleece together without pinning.  Lay the backing fabric right side down followed by the StitchNSew Sew-In High Loft Fleece and finally the quilt top right side up.  Follow the instructions on the can to spray and smooth to remove wrinkles from each layer.

Finish

Quilt as desired with Aurifil 50 wt thread and add binding using your favorite method.

Happy Spring,

Carla
