The East Coast collection by Ruby Rock It is such a gorgeous and elegant paper line, so perfect for documenting all those special occasions in life. This month, a dear friend of mine turns 50, and I really want to give her something as special as she is to celebrate her big day. I think she’s going to love this pretty gift wrap set. It’s unique and one-of-a-kind, just like her, as so easy to put together with the help of Therm O Web’s fabulous line-up of adhesives.

Here’s a few quick tips for creating your own custom gift wrap using your favorite paper line, and a few basic supplies:

I am a fanatic about saving boxes and packaging supplies. You never know when they might come in handy, and it’s super easy to disguise the old labels so nobody ever knows what you’ve been up to. For my project, I used one of those collapsible boxes from a large chain store. These are really easy to cover, since they stay completely flat until folded. Simply measure the width of the side panels, and cut corresponding strips of patterned paper to size. Don’t worry about how long they are, as you can piece more paper as you go. Working on one side at a time, cover the entire box panel with Therm O Web’s SuperStick Glue Stick and adhere your first paper strip. When you get to the corner, fold the paper over to the next side and repeat the process. Continue until you have covered all sides of the box. Trim off any excess paper.

Then measure and cut a panel to fit the top lid, and adhere the panel with glue stick.

Assemble the box and wrap ribbon around. For a really strong hold, secure the ends of the ribbon with Therm O Web’s Fabric Fuse Tape. To form the ribbon bow, adhere a 7″ band of ribbon into a loop using additional fabric fuse tape, then adhere the loop to the ribbon on the box.

Make a gift tag from one of the 3×4 Foundation Cards. This is really easy to do by simply cutting off the top corners of the card on a diagonal, and rounding the bottom corners with a punch. Embellish the tag with cute East Coast clear stamps and alpha stickers from the Finishing Pack, as well as decorative strips cut from patterned paper. Add machine stitching, if desired.

Cut a larger tag from a Finishing Pack transparency to layer underneath, and add to the gift box along with a big die cut bow made from East Coast patterned paper.

For a bit of a different gift wrap, try packaging your gift in a clear cello bag. For my pretty tea towel, I simply re-used the large clear bag that my East Coast papers came in. Love that you can see a peek of the gift, without giving it all away. Dress up your package in an instant by adding a quick belly band of patterned paper to the center, wrapped in matching wide ribbon. If your paper doesn’t reach all the way around in back, that’s ok. Simply secure the ends with Therm O Web large Zots™ clear adhesive dots.

Add a bit of stamping to one of the 4×6 Foundation Cards and adhere card to the center of the band. To keep things matching, add more of the decorative paper strip used on the box tag, this time cutting the ends of the strip into banner notches. Personalize strip with additional alpha stickers.

Add strip to the Foundation Card, and you are done!
