Hi there, I’m Carol Swift of Just Let Me Quilt and I love being a part of the Therm O Web Design Team. It’s an amazing group of ladies and I’m pretty sure I’m the oldest among all of them (but I’m young at heart!) Even as old as I am, I still get excited about every kind of doll… I feel like a kid again just being around them! The 18” dolls are very popular and with the help of a new book by Anna Allen, “My Doll, My Style”, sewing clothes for them has never been easier. Anna’s book has a variety of clothes and bags to sew…your doll will be so stylish.

Sew Stylish Pajamas For Your 18-Inch Doll

My sweet 18” doll is dressed in pajama bottoms and a lace top that I sewed using red fleece and red polka dot knit from Riley Blake Designs. I love those cute little pockets!

Here’s what I used to sew the pajamas and knit top:

StitchnSew EZ Quilt Block Sheets
SpraynBond Basting Adhesive
HeatnBond Soft Stretch Ultra Tape
PeelnStick Fabric Fuse
Fabric Fuse Adhesive
Aurifil Thread 50wt
Oliso Purple Iron
Fleece/flannel
Knit Fabric
Lace
Elastic

The pictures and photos in the book made sewing the clothes together very simple. The step-by-step instructions were so helpful.

Sew Stylish Pajamas For Your 19-Inch Doll Instructions:

To help your pattern last longer for future doll pajamas you’ll be sewing, use Stitch n Sew EZ Quilt Block Sheets to print them out. Just slide the pattern material into your inkjet printer and hit the “print’ button. It’s as simple as that…no tracing!

Pinning the pattern to your fabric is no problem with the Stitch n Sew EZ Quilt Block Sheets. They are made of 100% polyester, and are transparent, washable, and keep your pattern in it’s original form.

Use Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive instead of pinning and basting lace in place on the bodice as directed in the pattern instructions. It holds it in place with no movement when sewing it to the other sections. Be sure to spray it on a protected and covered surface. Lightly spray the right side of the bodice and lay the lace in place. Let it dry and you’re ready to move to the next step in the pattern directions.

The back of the top calls for Velcro to close it. Therm O Web Fabric Fuse Adhesive is amazing for holding the Velcro in place for easy sewing. Squeeze a small amount on the back of the Velcro and finger press in place. Let dry. Sew around edges.

To hem the lace top, Heat n Bond Soft Stretch Ultra Tape makes the job so easy. Place the tape on the fabric and press according to the package directions. Remove protective tape and press in place. No sewing and the fabric stays soft, too!

If the tape is too wide, it is easily cut to fit something as thin as the hem of this knit top.

The 2” heart is easy to add to the knit top using Peel n Stick Fabric Fuse. Cut out a 2” heart from Fabric Fuse and remove one side of the protective paper. Place sticky side down on wrong side of fabric and finger press in place.

Cut out Fabric Fuse heart. Remove protective paper and press on the knit top. Be sure to press around all edges on front and back of heart. No ironing or sewing needed! The Peel n Stick Fabric Fuse is great for adding badges or patches to uniforms or clothes, too.

Have some fun sewing doll clothes…you’ll feel like a kid again. Really you will!
