We hope you’re enjoying our Sunny Days week. Often we tend to take the sun for granted and when winter sets in or several days of overcast rainy weather, we know we’re guilty wishing for more of the sun.
Did you know…like all-stars, the Sun will eventually run out of energy and it will swell and thus engulf Mercury, Venus, and most likely even Earth. Scientists believe that the Sun is already at around halfway through its lifetime and will last for another 5 billion years before it will shrink down to become a white dwarf star.
Sending Sunshine Card
Hello there! It’s Andrea with you sharing some sunshine-filled inspiration using the new Time To Fly Toner Card Fronts, Deco Foil, and Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets.
I fell in love with those sweet butterflies from the Time To Fly Toner Card Fronts and just had to use them on today’s card. They’re even sweeter with Lilac Deco Foil, don’t you think? And I never tire of the awesome texture the Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets provide!
Foiling Butterflies
Using my laminator I applied Lilac Deco Foil to one of the Time To Fly A2 Toner Card Fronts. I die-cut the center with Whimsy Stamps’ Notched Rectangles Die Set.
Creating a Flocked Sun
To create my sun, I used Deco Foil Foam Adhesive and Deco Foil Flock in Sunshine Yellow and Orange Glow. When the die you’re using has stitching or some other detail, I have found it’s best to adhere the flock to the adhesive BEFORE die-cutting in order to preserve those details. I trimmed matching pieces of adhesive and flock. After removing the paper backing from the foam adhesive, I placed the flock face down onto the tape. I ran the layers through my die-cutting machine to transfer the flock and gently peeled the paper from the flock. Then, I die-cut the flocked adhesive with Whimsy Stamps’ Up in the Clouds Dies.
Assembling the Card
I blended an A2 panel of white cardstock with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide and adhered it to a white card with the Memory Tape Runner XL. I attached the butterfly piece on top with Gina K. Designs White Foam Tape. Using a rectangle die, I created a frame from an A2 panel of purple cardstock and affixed it with Mixed Media Adhesive.
That adorable bunny is from Whimsy Stamps’ Sending Sunshine set. After coloring that cutie with Copics, I cut her out with the coordinating dies and adhered her with foam tape. I die-cut a cloud from glitter paper and tucked it under the butterfly frame with Mixed Media Adhesive. I trimmed the flocked sun with my scissors and nestled it in the frame. I stamped a sentiment from Sending Sunshine, die-cut it, and popped it up with foam tape. I finished the card with a scattering of gems adhered with Mixed Media Adhesive.
