Welcome back!  Lisa B. here and I’m excited to be back guesting again!

This week we’re inspired by the Red, White and Blue at Therm O Web and I’ve used some of the fun products from the shop to create backgrounds that make a bang!

I started with three die-cut panels; two from gel prints (cardstock and acrylic paint) and one from blue card stock.

I used the Starburst Stencil to add Transfer Gel Blanco to each panel and set them aside to dry for an hour or more.

After the panels were dry, I ran them through my laminator with some Radiant Red Transfer Foil and bam!

Tons of sparkle and shine!  And the cool thing about foiling a gel print made using acrylic paint is the paint will take some of the foil.  And the amount of foil it takes depends on the amount of paint and age of the print… less paint or an older print will transfer less foil which in itself can be pretty cool like with two of the panels I made for today.  It allowed the lines from the stencil to show and take center stage while adding additional sparkle to the rest of the background.  It’s one of those techniques you have to be willing to be surprised by and I was pleasantly surprised with these!

Next, I added some white stars to the panels using a star stencil from Miss Ink and the Transfer Gel Blanco and set them aside to dry and while they were drying I cut a bunch of word die cuts.

And finally, I layered the backgrounds onto two layers of cardstock and then popped the word die cuts up onto them.

I added an additional sentiment to this one and it will be my son’s birthday card.  He was born on July 3rd and put up with many red, white and blue-themed birthday parties.  Why stop now that he is in his late 20s??

This one would make a great invite to a 4th of July party.. just add the details on the inside.

And this one… just a quick hello to a friend who loves fireworks!

I hope you enjoyed these as much as loved making them!  I have a quick video for you here with my process above:
