The Tropical Paradise collection from Blend Fabrics is a perfect collection for summer with it’s bright colors and motifs like pineapples and tropical leaves. I wanted to make a pillow to spruce up my space for the summer and was inspired by the pineapple print to do a traditional “pineapple” block pillow. This block isn’t actually the shape of a pineapple, but the angles edges and sharp points resemble the shape a bit.
Quilted Pineapple Block Pillow with Blend Fabrics and StitchnSew Fleece
I used a tutorial from Crazy Mom Quilts to make the block, which you can find HERE. I used 1.5″ strips of white solid and the patterned fabric. My unfinished block measure about 19.25″ and I trimmed it down to fit an 18″ pillow form. I chose a coral solid fabric for the center to coordinate with the colors in the prints.

Pineapple Block Pillow Instructions:
To create my quilted pillow, I used StitchnSew™ Fleece cut to the size of my square (minus a bit to reduce bulk in the seam allowance). (You could also just use HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece, but I had this scrap of StitchnSew™ that was just the right size!)
I used SpraynBond® Basting Spray to help keep it in place while I quilted.
After the front was quilted, I basted the bottom edge of the front and back pieces together and stitched my zipper on. Then a quick stitch around the outside edges, turned it inside out, and filled it with an 18″ pillow form.
I LOVE this pattern and how it looks with these fabrics!
