You know us crafters, we always have ideas running around in our heads.  Well, we need places to job them down right?!  It’s Katrina, from Paper, Scissors and Glue to share a quick and fun way to create notebooks to give to crafty friends, or anyone that needs to jot things down. And this is a hybrid project, meaning I used digital printable elements to create these!  But don’t worry, you don’t have to do them that way!

Project Instructions:

First I choose a couple of digital scrapbooking papers that I wanted to work with.  I printed them out on 8.5 x 11 paper on my inkjet printed.  My printer will print borderless, but not all printers will.  If not, just trim off any edges that you have if you want to use the entire sheet. I did these in Photoshop, but you can also do them in Word by opening a document, inserting a picture and making it fit your letter size paper.   And if you are not comfortable with this, you can always just use some pattern paper that you have on hand!

There was word art that was included in my digital kits that I thought would be fun to use. I placed the word art in my editing software positioning on 1/2 of the sheet of 8.5 x 11, so that I could create a fold.  You could also just type saying out in a fun font.  Make sure this step is NOT on the same document/layer that you have printed your paper out from. I then ran my printed paper thru my laser printer to create the saying to foil.  You might do a test run of how you need to put your paper in your printer to get the saying in the correct position.  Here below, I have the saying printed and getting ready to foil.

Cut a piece of foil that will cover your word art and place it on top of it.  Place your paper/foil into a sleeve of parchment paper, so that you can run the sandwich thru your laminator. Do this for each notebook you have printed.  Let cool slightly and then remove the foil and watch the magic happen!

Now you need to figure out exactly how big you want each notebook.  If you leave it a full 8.5 x 11 inches folded in half, you will need a long armed stapler to be able to staple the copy paper in it.  I trimmed the “keepin’ it real” notebook down, but I still had to use a long armed stapler.  Trim pieces of copy paper that are about 1/2 inch smaller than the width and the height of your book.  This will leave a little wiggle room for the bulkiness of the fold.  I use about 10-15 sheets of copy paper folded.  Put your folds all together and then staple along the spine.  You can cover the spine with another piece of pattern paper, but you can leave it like I did also!

So now I have a couple of quick gifts to give to some of my crafty friends so they can jot ideas down when they hit.  I think I am going to make one of these for myself.

So many things you could make these for and with.  Monograms, names, a quote, the list just goes on.  And need a stocking stuffer?  I am thinking Christmas may get done a little early this year!

Thanks for stopping by the ThermOWeb blog today!  Have a great one!
