Patchwork Heart Placemat Instructions:
The seam allowance throughout is 1/4″
For the Heart, sew the 2 1/2″ squares according to the diagram below.
Take the Heart Pattern and trace it to a piece of HeatnBond Fusible Fleece. Draw it on the soft side without the adhesive.
Iron it to the back of your 2 1/2″ block.
Cut around the heart and lay it aside to make the placemats.
Take 8 of the 2 1/2″ squares and sew them together, like shown below. Repeat 3 more times.
Take one of the 10 1/2″ x 16 1/2″ pieces of background flower Fabric. Sew it to the top of the strip that was just created.
Repeat 3 more times. Yielding 4 placemats. Iron a piece of HeatnBond Fusible Fleece to the back of each of the placemats. Put the backing fabric behind the fusible fleece.
Quilt as desired. Sew the Ric Rack down over the seam between the 10 1/2″ x 16 1/2″ and the 2 1/2″ squares strip.
Take one of the hearts that was previously created and applique stitch around it. Make sure that it is placed far enough from the edge so that it is not covered up by the binding. Repeat with the remaining placemats.
Bind and Enjoy!
