It’s time for new placemats! Which is the quickest way to freshen up your table.
And I LOVE making them as it’s INSTANT gratification
For each placemat you will need
11″ x 15″ of Heat n Bond fleece.. extra high loft is nice!
11.5″ x 31″ of fabric
Increase amounts for more placemats!
Ready to sew!
Lay the fleece, fusible side facing the back of one rectangle
Place the other rectangle on top and steam to fuse
Now layer the fused piece and the unfused,
right sides together
find some pins
and a matching thread color. This is Aurifil 50wt
Leave an opening about 3″ to 4″ wide on one side for turning
Sew all around and trim the corners so they turn nicer
Turn the placemat right sides out
Press
Using my walking foot or even feed foot
I sewed around the outside.
The I stitched straight lines about 1.5″ apart.
Set the table for a whole new look!
This really can be done in about 30 minutes for several placemat.
Give it a try!
As you are reading this I’m teaching in South Africa at the first International Conference
