O Christmas Tree Scrapbook Layout

I started this layout by cutting and backing my “O Christmas Tree” cutfile! I found the cutfile on Etsy by Page by Paige(Paige Taylor Evans) that was perfect for my layout and uploaded it to my Cricut software. I then cut it out in smooth white cardstock and made a shaker pocket for the “O” using some clear transparency sheets and sequins from my stash and used some 3D foam from the roll to put between the clear layers.

Next, I pulled out some flock in black, Tuscan gold, and blue sky to back my file. I grabbed an embossing folder and my manual die-cutting machine and ran some flock pieces through for some added texture. This is one of my favorite things to do with flock! I then used the negative letters that were still stuck to my mat to use as templates to manually cut the backing pieces.

Check out my YouTube video below for a closer look at how I backed this file. Once I finished backing the letters and tree trunk, I backed the entire thing with a piece of patterned paper from Vicki Boutin Warm Wishes collection. I then sprayed my background where the cutfile will sit and the tree cutfile itself with some Gold Glitter Dust spray. It dries rather quickly so you don’t have much wait time to finish your layout. I adhered everything on the file using the UltraBond Liquid Adhesive and my Memory XL Tape Runner.

Next, I pulled out distress oxide in scattered straw and distress ink in rustic wilderness to add some “shine” behind my cutfile. I used a blending brush to smudge on some color around where the tree will sit. I also added some gold and black splatters by flicking the spray tube onto the page. I then attached my cutfile to my page popping it up with some foam tape!

I then went to work on my photos. I first matted in some smooth white cardstock, and then matted again with some of the patterned papers from the same Vicki Boutin collection. I also distressed the edges of all the patterned pieces with my edge distresser. You could use scissors to distress the edges if you do not have a tool for this. I stuck all the layers together and to my page using my Memory XL Tape Runner and some Easy Tear Tape as it is super sticky and so easy to use.

I finished this one up by adding some Christmas light garland from my stash and embellishing it with more elements from the Warm Wishes collection. I also stamped around the star at the top of the tree to make it look like it was glimmering.
