noel covernoel quilt 2 Hello there!  It’s Amanda from Jedi Craft Girl stopping by to wish you all a Merry Christmas and to share with you my Noel mini quilt pattern.  I like to put words in my quilts and I often get asked how I cut my letters, if I use a machine.  I’m sharing my secret with you today and it is Heat n Bond Lite EZ Print Sheets!  I design my pattern on my computer and then print it directly on to the Heat n Bond® Lite.  No drawing or holding patterns up to a window to trace.  This saves a ton of time!  Let’s get started!

Supplies:

Heat n Bond® Lite EZ Print sheets

scraps of christmas fabrics – I used Little Joys from Riley Blake Designs

1/3 yard off white fabric

1/4 yard binding

1/2 yard backing

  1. Print the pattern PDFs in referse onto the EZ Print Lite sheets.  Here are a few tips when using these sheets:
  2. Feed only one page at a time in your printer to reduce the chances of paper jam.
  3. Print on a high quality setting.  If you print “Fast Print” it might move the sheets through the printer too quickly and cause jamming.
  4. Make sure to print in reverse

Cut around the letters and shes leaving about 1/4″ around each piece.  With a hot, dry iron, press to the wrong side of the desired fabric.

IMG_3122The small shapes are a great way to use up scraps and that’s exactly what I did!  After cooling, cut the shapes and letters out along the pattern lines.  Peel off backing paper.  Follow the cutting instructions below.

noel cutting instructionsWith the help of your cat, position the applique pieces on the white strips.  This may take a little time to get them just right.  Once they are positioned to your liking, heat set in place.noel quilt 3Outline stitch around each applique piece.  I used white thread.

The pattern measurements are cut off of the right side of the page. Could you please send those or post so they can be read?
