Hi! It’s Jen from The Smitten Chicken. I love decorating for the Holiday Season. But now that it is January and all of the decorations are down, my house is BLAH! So I needed a little quick fix. I love making banners! You may remember my Christmas Noel banner I made last year. I seriously can’t get enough banners!
I received a fun new toy! Have you heard of Crafter’s Edge? They are a new die-cutting system. And they are so much fun! I am using their flag pennant die for this project.
Do you want to build a snow banner? (I couldn’t help myself! With 5 girls, this song is on repeat at my house!)
No-Sew Applique Snow Banner
Supplies you will need:
1/4 yard white burlap (I just picked some up at Joann’s)
2 fat quarters (One for the smaller banner, one for the letters)
HeatnBond Ultra Hold Fusible Adhesive
Trim
And guess what?!? This banner is a NO SEW project! So anyone can make it! And it is FAST! So let’s get started!
Winter Time Snow Banner
First, you need to cut out your banner pieces. You will need to cut 4 large banner pieces out of the burlap. Burlap is great for banners because it won’t fray as fabric does.
Next, we will cut out the smaller banner pieces. Iron the Ultrahold HeatnBond to the wrong side of the fabric. Then cut out the smaller banner pieces with the die. Press the small banner to the large banner.
Next, you will need to print out your SNOW letters from the free pattern. Keep in mind, they will be the mirror image. Trace the letters onto the paper side of the HeatnBond. Press them onto the wrong side of the fabric. Cut the letters out. Now press the letters to the small banner.
Now we need to attach the banner to some trim so we can hang it. I found this adorable pom-pom trim at Target! I think it looks like little snowballs, which is perfect for our snow banner. Using the liquid adhesive fabric fuse, glue the trim to the top of the banner. Leave about a 7-inch tail on each end to hang it up with.
And you are done! I love the fabric for the letters. It reminds me of a cozy sweater! So stay warm this January and enjoy this fun Snow banner!
