We’re just a little excited today as you may have heard earlier…it’s our first collaboration with our friends at Sunny Studio!
Sunny Studio Spring Collaboration
Sunny Studio is not only perfect for the sweetest cards…you can also use their products for Mixed Media creations!
Today Heather Collins shows how you can craft the perfect handmade gift and knock one out of the park when it comes to creativity!
A friend of mine is having a little girl and I wanted to make her something special for the nursery. Whenever I am invited to gift giving shower, I always try to make something handmade. This way I know that no one else is going to get it for the recipient. This is a tradition that my Grandmother, Mom, and Aunt have always tried to do. It usually also comes with a little something bought or a gift card, but this is just my way of hopefully making them feel special.
Mixed Media Crown
First…gather up your supplies for the crown. You’ll need…
Crown Supplies
iCraft PeelnStick Toner Sheet
Brutus Monroe Transfer Sheets – Sketch Purple
iCraft 3D Zots
iCraft Metallix Gel – White Pearl
iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive
Sunny Studio “Sparkle” die cut
Mixed Media Crown
I found this crown piece at a big box store and the first thing I did was paint it with plum-colored metallic acrylic paint. Metallic colors seem to be really calling my artistic soul this year. There seems to be a wide color choice when coming to them. Some are subtle, while others are big and bold.
Right before I started the painting process, I turned on my Minc to level 4 to heat up. I placed a cut piece of the iCraft PeelnStick Toner Sheet face up, with one piece of Brutus Monroe Transfer Sheets- Sketch Purple and run it through twice. I took off the back adhesive and laid my dry painted crown on it. I also did the same with the Brutus Monroe Transfer Sheets- Sketch Silver. I like to use a brayer to make sure there is a good bond before using a razor to cut off anything that is hanging over the edge of the piece.
Next, I took a small spatula and iCraft Metallix Gel – White Pearl and put some on the tops of the crown tips and let dry. While this dried I cut out of the Brutus Monroe Transfer Sheets- Sketch Silver and the Cutting Die from Sunny Studio “Sparkle”. Using a pokey tool, I take the back off of the iCraft PeelnStick and place on my little crown. Then I attached a little pink fairy using iCraft 3D Zots and placed on my crown.
To finish the piece I used iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive to attach some flowers to the crown. I also put some glitter around the edges and some gems here and there. This piece will make my friends’ nursery centerpiece I hope.
