This month we are celebrating a lot of big milestone birthday at our house, starting with my son’s 18th birthday. Of course special birthdays call for special cards, which I created with the help of some of my favorite birthday papers and embellishments and Therm O Web adhesives.
To begin with, cut a 4″ x 5.5″ panel of patterned paper and adhere contrasting paper to the middle using Therm O Web Mini Tape Runner adhesive. I placed a strip of vellum tape across the bottom of the card and then added machine stitching across and down both sides.
Apply 1/8″ SuperTape to the back of a die cut frame and adhere to patterned paper.
Trim out the frame and use additional SuperTape to adhere the frame to the card base.
Then embellish the card with die cuts and transparencies. Use Zots Small Adhesive Dots and Zots 3D Adhesive Dots to apply the embellishments. A trick I’ve learned when using the Zots is to simply cut the 3D dots in half, or even smaller, as necessary to fit, like I’ve done here on this party banner.
Add a decorative brad and a small hemp bow. Affix the bow with a small Zots dot.
Once I was finished with my son’s card, I used the same basic design and supplies to create a surprise 40th birthday party card for a friend. A tip for adhering clear embellishments like these transparencies? SuperTape! Really disappears behind the clear cuts!
And again one last time for another birthday card for a friend who’s turning 70 in just a few weeks.
Just by changing out the embellishments and prints I chose, I ended up with three unique birthday cards for three very special people in my life. I love how they turned out and LOVE what a time saver it was to stick to one basic design. And of course Therm O Web’s amazing line up of adhesives are a huge help, too…especially the super thin SuperTape which made adhering those thin die cut frames and clear transparencies an absolute snap!
Enjoy!
