Masculine Birthday Cards with New Deco Foil Flock in Midnight Blue

Hello everyone! Justin here and today I’m getting crafty with some Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets to make a pairing of masculine birthday cards! For me, sports are always a fantastic choice when trying to go a masculine route, along with some punny humor. I grabbed a hockey player image from my stash and got to work!

First, I colored up my Hockey Players with Copic Markers, fussy cut them out and set them aside. Next, Because I wanted my entire background to be flocked, I grabbed Blue Sky & the new Midnight Blue Flock for my background. I ran them through my die cutting machine with a Portrait Stripes Cover Die, and I got 7 strips of each color!

Because I was using 2 colors, I knew that if I only made 1 card, I would have 7 spare stripes for a future project. I figured I best use them and create a pair of projects instead of just 1! I took 2 pieces of blue cardstock, and alternated adhering the Blue Sky & Midnight Blue Flock stripes on each panel using the Ultra Bond Permanent Adhesive Pen.

After I was done adhering my stripes to their background panel, I wanted to use a Turquoise Sea Glitz Glitter Gel over a stencil on top. I selected a stencil called Digital Noise by Kindred Stamps, as it sorta reminds me of what ice can look like after it’s been skated on. Using my Stencil Pal, I spread a solid layer of the Turquoise Sea Glitz Glitter Gel over the stencil, removed it, set the (2) card fronts aside to dry, and cleaned my stencil & tools off immediately.

While my Glitz Gel was drying, I decided to prep the rest of my card. Using the White Latte Flock Transfer Sheets, I used a Snowflake Die from Lawn Fawn to die cut 2 snowflakes that I would use as background focal pieces behind each hockey player. Even though the rest of my card would be shades of blue, I thought a white snowflake would be a nice contrast!

The next bit of prep work that I did was die cut the word “PUCK” from a Lawn Fawn Alphabet Die Set 6 times (3 for each card). I like to stack my die cuts so they really pop off the paper, because sometimes they are too delicate to effectively use foam tape behind them. I used my Ultra Bond Permanent Adhesive Pen to stack the words on top of each other, and then I distressed the bottom of each letter with Prize Ribbon Distress Ink. Once dry, I took a white gel pen and added some accents to each letter.

During this step, I also took the sentiment “You’re Old” and heat embossed it in white powder on blue paper for each card!

Once my Glitz Gel was dry, I adhered my Snowflakes and my “PUCK” words to the flock background using Ultra Bond Permanent Adhesive, and then adhered my hockey players and my “You’re Old” sentiment strips with 1/16″ Foam Tape!

There you have it! A super fuzzy and glitzy way to make a Masculine Birthday card that is just all things blue!
