Layout Details

I cannot believe I am posting a picture with no makeup and my hair a mess on a blog post, but this was too cute of a picture NOT to scrap and went perfect with these new products.  Hazel and I were waiting to go into her last scent work class and it was just a snapshot in a moment that she looked adorable in!

First, I started my layout by creating layers at the top of my background page.  By using the vellum to soften the background wording, it made the center my focal point.  I used the Memory Runner XL to adhere the vellum in the top center of my background and then started building the other layers, 2 with plain cardstock and 3 with pattern paper in shrinking sizes.  Along with the Memory Runner XL, I also used 3D Foam Tape to adhere this section together.

Flower Making Time

After my center section was adhered, I went to work with the new Unity Adhesive Transfers in Blooming Friendship.  I only used the flower from the sheet, but the “hello friend” saying would have worked also!  Let’s see how the flowers were created!

The transfers are so easy, you just pick a foil and you are set!  Gold Glitter foil for Unity was my obvious choice.  The gold always gives a little extra to your project. Begin by trimming out the transfer you want to use, being careful not to remove the protective backing just yet.  Now you can transfer the adhesive one of two ways, with a laminator or with a manual die-cutting machine.  I choose the die-cutting machine method.

Begin by removing the protective covering from the transfer and lay the adhesive side down on cardstock. Next, run the cardstock with transfer thru using your usual sandwich for your die-cutting machine.  I added a couple of cardstock shims for mine, just to make sure I had good contact.  Every machine is different.  Once you remove your sandwich from your die-cutting machine, you will peel off the top acetate piece with the printing.  Now your adhesive is adhered to your cardstock and ready for the foil.  Place your foil, pretty side up, onto the area where the adhesive transfer is.  I tap it down, making sure it’s smooth before I do. Again, run this and your usual sandwich back thru your machine.  Once done, remove your foil and see the pretty appearance!

Now, if this is directly on your project you can leave it as is.  For these, I wanted to watercolor them and fussy cut them out.  I used my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers to color these in to go with the colors in my pattern papers.  PRETTY!!!

Using the Negative Foil

But what about that foil left behind?  Suzanna Lee, a former DT member here, gave me the idea to make flowers from it!  So, I used my Memory Runner XL and applied a lot of adhesive to some vanilla cardstock, and adhered that negative piece of foil right on top of it.  Then I ran it thru the die-cutting machine the same way to transfer the foil.

Once done, I fussy cut these flowers out also and used them to mix in!  How fun is that look??

I popped up all the flowers with some 3D Foam Tape.  Love those big tape rolls!

Finishing Up

To finish up my layout, I made a banner tag out of cardstock and then stamped a Unity sentiment stamp on it.  To spiffy up the tag, I added some doodled and hearts, which gave me a perfect layout for my title.

I am just going to say, you are going to want ALL of these new Adhesive Transfers!  I am already adding more to my cart!!  Thanks for stopping by today!
